clsage
This video crossed one of my feeds and I saw a variety of genre usages...Since I hadn't seen it mentioned yet on the forums I had to share: http://vimeo.com/107454954 -Carl-
zslane
Yeah, it's pretty brilliant vfx work. I would probably have chosen different music, but the integration with the old WWI footage is very well done. I guess technically, WWI predates the pulp era (which was mostly inter-war), but excluding Wells and Verne is just too hard to do in our hearts. :-)
Nolgroth
I would have chosen to do a voiceover like the news reels that used to play in movie theaters back in the day. The music was so inappropriate that I feel it actually ruined any pleasure I had in watching the film.
Lord Liaden
The creator of the film posted in the comments section that a composer is preparing a new score for the film, which will be part of a re-upload of the video.

Some comments protested perceived disrespect on the part of the creator of the video, over using footage of actual soldiers in war for entertainment purposes. That prompted the creator to reply that all the combat footage was from historical reenactments, not the actual war scenes.
zslane
Actual war footage has been used in countless Hollywood films, for entertainment purposes, for decades. I don't think such objections will find much traction with filmmakers. Just the same, the reenactment footage is very well done too!
Lord Liaden
I think the objection was more about the footage having been doctored with added images of "Martian walkers."
