Iuz the Evil
Yeah, it was pretty gruesome. Crushed to death.
Christopher R Taylor
She may wear some minor fashion accessory with a bit of brown fur on it, but that's probably going to be the extent of it (just like Scarlet Witch's only concession to the comics was that her jacket was red-ish). I hope they go silly with it and give her the tail and ears and all. That would be so much more fun.
bigdamnhero
The challenge is going to be that Squirrel Girl in the comics doesn't really work as part of a team alongside "conventional" superheroes. So the show's producers can either make the entire show a wacky spoof of superhero tropes, or they can tone Squirrel Girl down to be the team jokester but an otherwise conventional superhero who bears little resemblance to the comics character. Lawnmower Boy
Eh. There's a lot of ways to go with Squirrel Girl, but the key thing about her is that she' s not a deconstruction of superhero tropes. If anything, the other way around --she's a critique of the "grim and gritty" stuff --or, rather, people who miss the point that the artists who gave us grim and gritty and take away DEATH MURDER KILL INCEST CANNIBALISM MURDER DEATH INCEST KILL KILL. Like the people who regretted not seeing the "Old Man Logan" storyline play out in the movie. "Where's the part where his entire family gets killed, or the part where he kills all the X-Men? This people-get-old stuff is too depressing!" Squirrel Girl will get old, and she'll be X-23's most awesome grandma/aunt ever. zslane
I predict she will be portrayed as cheerful and perky, maybe even a little bit naive. I wouldn't expect her to be the comic relief for the show, just its most light-hearted character.

Pattern Ghost
I'm interested in how they play Mr. Immortal. That's a pretty dark character One of the linked articles said that he hadn't actually tested his immortality power yet, and wasn't sure about it. Which is a complete 360 from what I remember from the early GLA appearances, where he died fairly frequently.
DasBroot
All it would take to make Mr Immortal *not* a dark character is to remove his manic rages and knowledge of his ultimate fate - to be the last living thing in the universe. Yes, that removes a chunk of the appeal of the character - but allows for wacky death of the week slapstick hi-jinks like showing up to a crime scene to help and promptly getting run over by a surprise off-screen arriving SWAT van, etc. Burrito Boy
Matt the Bruins
Yeah but they dress like anything. I mean kids, little kids on Halloween. Spider-man jammies yay! Hawkeye jammies? Huh? To be fair, jammies don't appear to be Hawkeye's style. bigdamnhero

The problem with superhero "comedy" is that it usually becomes indistinguishable from parody/satire. I don't think they want another Powerless on their hands. I don't think they want another Powerless on their hands. I'm a bit worried about that, too. I was going to skip it until I saw the casting. Baby Daddy just ended and Theler was good in that, plus Vayntrub is cute and likeable, So, I'm going to give it a shot.
Pattern Ghost
Also, Theler looks like a super-sized version of Chris Pratt, and we used to call him Giant Star-Lord when he was on the other show. It'd be funny (but ofc higly unlikely) if the characters were connected in the MCU. IMO, they could easily play brothers.
Christopher R Taylor
The problem with superhero "comedy" is that it usually becomes indistinguishable from parody/satire. I agree, its a fine line. Most comedy fantasy goes the same path, it becomes mockery rather than light-hearted fun within the genre. But there have been some very big laughs in MCU movies so far, so I think they can pull it off with good writing. Marvel has earned the place in my mind where I presume it will be well done and am surprised if not.
zslane
I agree. However, to my knowledge, Marvel has never advertised/positioned any of its movies or television shows as "comedies" before. Even GotG, which has acquired a reputation for being a veritable laugh-fest, is not marketed as a comedy, but as an action/adventure movie. An action show with humor in it is not the same as a "television comedy", which I equate with "sitcom". It remains to be seen if New Warriors will be a straight-up comedy, or merely an action show with humor as its central temperament.

I'd actually be more worried about that if it was on one of the "traditional" networks, cuz yeah for them comedy = sitcom. But Freeform might have more room to play around. Could be interesting. Bazza
The Defenders: Alexandra is More ‘Adversary’ Than Villain http://screenrant.com/defenders-sigourney-weaver-alexandra-adversary/ “With my work in general, I try to avoid terms like ‘ice queen’ that are often thrown at women who aren’t completely sympathetic. I encouraged [the writers] to not think in those terms, because I find them completely meaningless, and to help me understand who I was from a really un-cliché-ed point of view. I think we succeeded in that.” “Above all else, she cares about living. She’s about self-preservation, and self-preservation at all costs… She has the long game in mind, and she isn’t thinking about this chess game, she’s thinking about six chess games in the future. As such, I think she’s seen a lot of beauty in humanity and in the world, but there are certain things that to her are expendable, and that’s a really dangerous worldview.”
