So, the Chinese really like Venom, causing it to outearn Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Deadpool 2

Be sure to click through for the "Venom Boyfriend" posts, though some are NSFW.

I'm not sure what this success says about the movie-going public. Nor what influence it may have on superhero movies going forward. Venom feels like the kind of supers film that would have been made twenty years ago -- I thought the genre had moved on.

The Stunning Hela Hot Toys Figure is Now Available from Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow is impressive, But other than the Depth of Field issue (The usual dead giveaway for anything in miniature), in the image, it looks like a still from the movie. Very lifelike face.

Stunning is probably the right word for it.

You're well within your rights to say that in your opinion, a given film isn't or shouldn't be impactful and meaningful to people. But if enough other people say that it is for them, then it is. That's the case with Black Panther, as with Wonder Woman. Very large numbers of people say they were affected by those movies, in a way other films hadn't touched them. That's just the reality.

'Black Panther' Star Michael B. Jordan Says He Saw a Therapist After Playing Killmonger

Not at all uncommon for actors. It's hard to live in someone else's skin for a long time, especially someone so intense and driven, and not carry some of him with you when the cameras stop rolling, even after filming has wrapped. And Jordan's remarks make him sound like the kind of actor who digs into himself to bring up connections to his character, which helps him portray that character convincingly. Those connections can be tough to sever.

The cancellation of Luke Cage and Iron Fist was a kind of shot across Disney's bow, letting them know that Netflix has no intention of doing anything that helps Disney make more money. Punisher season 2 has wrapped shooting and Jessica Jones season 3 is shooting now. Once those are done and aired, expect to hear Netflix announce the cancellation of all the remaining Marvel shows, including Daredevil.

One down, two to go. As I predicted.
