Plumbers?

Under type of player characters. Plumbers like to plumb the depths of their characters. They explore what makes a character tick however the down side is that they invest so much in the characters that they don't want to see any real harm come to them. And this bunch takes stuff done to their characters kinda personal.

That's no good. I've gotten hot under the collar when bad stuff happens to my character, but usually when the GM or another player is being a jerk for no reason. Character injury and death happen, and I don't mind a character dying, especially in a heroic way. If someone can't handle the thought of his character dying or getting  hurt, write a story instead of playing a game.

Rolemaster has a plethora of magical items which are good to convert to Hero. The Creatures and Treasures series has plenty to populate your campaigns for years. Items such as The Hammer of Relin (a +77 war hammer which can be thrown up to 7 miles and returns to the weilders hand) and The Black Heart (a power point multiplier for necromancers which replaces the users heart. If they are killed while the heart is implanted they are raised as a Lich).

If one can get ahold of a copy, I highly recommend checking it out for ideas for magic items.

RM's his healing paradigm was quite original for a RPG community used to Clerics being both healer and utility caster. The sheer variety of ists you needed to learn meant you'd probably have to be a specialist healer, and the Transferral Ways (take the wounds onto yourself and have lots of "cast while unconscious" cures to fix all the broken bits was... novel.

RM (like the (prestige) class proliferation of D&D) is its own argument against class-based systems: all those hybrid classes just so people can play the character they want to... Why not use a classless system like BRP or Hero and build your character the way you want it?

I'm okay running RM with just the base classes, although I have some of the Companion rules. MERP 2nd Edition added a few optional classes, so you can use it if you prefer a lighter game.

I have played a couple of MERP games the last couple of days. Mainly just combat, since they were solo games. But I can always run a game for my friends next time I see them, although I've been thinking of running the Stormbringer rpg as well.

I heard good things about Stormbringer but never got a crack at it. I'd rather try that than play MERP again.
