Hero V. Hero: July Superdraft

Recommended Posts

HVH_zpsk0q4eepm.png

What is the first thing that happens when two super heroes meet up?

They fight, of course.  It is a trope of the genre.  Misunderstandings and miscommunications fly around everywhere and when you have power enough to level cities, clearly those misunderstands have an opportunity to escalate.  This year, we have already seen two major comic book movies with this basic plot element.

So, the July Superdraft is going to be Hero V. Hero.   This can be any kind of Hero v. Hero you want.  Want to make it funny?  Great.  Want it to be superheroes?  Awesome.  Maybe you want to pit Luke Skywalker vs. Captain Kirk.  Love it.

This superdraft will be made up of ten rounds.  We will start on Tuesday, July 5th at 5 PM Eastern.  You will be drafting the following:

1 Location.  This is your first pick.  Each location is exclusive.  This will be a shared universe draft so feel free to build stories with other owners.

2 Heroes.  These are the characters that will be on opposite sides.  They must be considered heroes.  If they are considered villains, they may not be picked here.  If the character is a tweener or someone like Magneto who has been both, they would need to be approved.  If there is evidence of this villain actually being a hero, that would help.  Darth Vader would not be acceptable.  Anakin Skywalker would be .  I would say no to Dr. Doom, mainly because the times he has been "heroic" is basically him using the situation to his own advantage.  Someone like Namor, the Sub Mariner would be acceptable.

1 Reason/Cause.  This is why these heroic characters are fighting/in-conflict.

6 options.  These options can be anything you want.  They can be other heroes who are taking sides int he battle, such as the other Avengers in Captain America: Civil War.  It could be a villain who is behind the scenes pulling the strings such as Lex Luthor in Batman V. Superman.  It can be Macguffins that the heroes could be fighting over.  It could be NPC/allies etc.  Anything your creative minds can come up with.

We will start on July 5th.  We will be taking off the weekend of July 9-10 and July 16-17.  Final pick should happen on July 18th.

No real people will be allowed in this draft.

Any other questions?  Concerns?  Let me know.

Great, use my idea and then time it so I can't participate. Thanks a lot, Psybolt. :tonguewav:tsk::no:

What makes you unable to play? The month? The time? Is there a way I can fix it for you?

I'm going away on the 6th and won't be back until the 13th. If we were getting started today and weren't taking the weekends off I'd get in at least five picks before leaving. That would be enough so that my idea could probably survive. But 1 pick to everyone else's 6? I don't see how any concept is likely to survive. Maybe I can do something with the leftovers when I get back, but frankly I doubt it.

1 Reason/Cause.  This is why these heroic characters are fighting/in-conflict.

Any other questions?  Concerns?  Let me know.

Are these exclusive? If I have The Brain and Pinky facing off against Mickey Mouse for the affections of Minnie Mouse, does that mean no one else can use a romantic rivalry? Or can they have heroes fighting over a girl, as long as the girl isn't Minnie Mouse? Or would it even be okay if it IS Minnie Mouse? Or no one else gets to fight over a girl, but Veronica and Betty can still vie for the attentions of Archie?

If I have Bugs Bunny fighting Foxbat over "Tastes Great!" "Less Filling!" can someone else have Daffy Duck and Deadpool fighting over the same thing or do they have to argue about who got whose chocolate in whose peanut butter? Or find some other conflict than a commercial advertising slogan?

Lucius Alexander

Who got their palindromedary in my tagline!? Oh yeah - I did.

I thought about this.

I will say it this way.  Generalized conflicts are not exclusive (for example:  "Romantic rivalry")

Specific conflicts are exclusive (Ex. the aforementioned "Tastes great", "Less Filling" argument).

For any questionable ones, I will make a judgment.

Related question: Is there any specific order in which picks must be made?

Specifically, if I want to reveal the Reason/Cause after drafting my Heroes and Options, may I do it in that order?

Outside of the location, which is the first round pick, you may draft the picks in any order your heart desires.  If you want to save your reason/cause for your last pick, then go for it.
