Building Deadpool - suggestions

Hi everybody, is quite strange but in the forums I was not able to find a build of Deadpool. Let's say that the task is in general not so hard but I would like a suggestion about a particular power I would like to build. As you know, Deadpool is the "mercenary with a mouth" and I'm trying to build a power to simulate this incredible attitude in saying bull***t to distract and confusing the opponents especially during a combat. It should be something that requires a roll in oratory or persuasion to work... But the effects much more powerful (Deadpool could daze and confuse even Thanos)... Some suggestion?

I think it will depend on the "combat" effect you would like it to have.

At first thought it seems like a Presence attack, so +PRE (only to confuse/anger, maybe with a requires a Conversation roll) could work.

But you could also build it as +X OCV (also with Requires a roll or incantations) to simulate that he distracts his opponents giving him a better chance to hit.

Or +X DCV (also with Requires a roll or incantations) to simulate that he distracts his opponents making it harder for them to hit him.

There are probably a lot more ways to do this kind of thing, it really depends on the effect to want to have in combat. Once you know that then the build shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah overall skill levels described as breaking the fourth wall would work. as would danger sense based on genre savvyness. That's basically Gwenpools whole schtick and just as true for Deadpool. If your building comic book DP Give him a cosmic vpp for guns and teleportation. then its just healing factor and lots of combat skills.

For Deadpool's "Aptitude for saying confusing bullshit", you could model that as either a highly limited Mental Illusion, as a kind of Presence Attack (perhaps using Striking Appearance to provide the added dice), or as a "Superskill" (such as Oratory or Persuasion +10), none of the Interaction skills really deal with baffling with bullshit though... so I'm not sure which skill you should use. Perhaps make it a Power Skill.

Of all of the character's in his Universe, Deadpool has the best "Healing Factor" (Regeneration), it is supposedly even better than Wolverine's. He can regrow limbs, and recover from lethal injuries (like being stabbed in the head).

He is so ugly it causes immediate fear and revulsion: Negative 10-15 COM in 5th edition; Striking Appearance 2-3d6 in 6th edition plus Distinctive Features (as Cassandra mentioned).

He always has a pair of Katanas and Pistols in his illustrations (so he'd pay points for those, and use the doubling rule for the second one of each). In addition, he has Weapon Familiarity with almost every existing small arm and common melee weapon, allowing him to use whatever weapons he comes across.

His costume is likely minimally armored (4-8 rPD/rED) for a super, but he likely has an unusually high DCV for his point level.

He has Hand-To-Hand and Gunfighting Martial Arts (using the Ranged Martial Maneuvers from Hero System 6th Martial Arts for the latter), the former has weapon elements for both hand-to-hand and blades. He has the Two-Weapon Fighting skill, and Defense Maneuver IV. He likely has a fairly high OCV, and PSLs for Range Modifier, and Targeting.

His overconfidence, inability to shut up, and "knowledge" that he is a comic book character are a Psychological and Physical complication respectively (the latter should be worth very little as a complication, but it isn't a psych comp because he can't make an EGO roll not to break the forth wall).

Wikipedia section on Deadpools powers and abilities.

Powers and abilities

Deadpool's primary power is an accelerated healing factor, depicted by various writers at differing levels of efficiency. Artificially endowed by Dr. Killebrew for the Weapon X program, this enables him to regenerate any destroyed tissue at a superhuman rate, as well as making him immune to diseases.

Deadpool's healing factor is strong enough that he has survived complete incineration and decapitation more than once.[citation needed] Although his head normally has to be reunited with his body to heal a decapitation wound, he was able to regrow his head after having it pulverized by the Hulk in the graphic novel Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe.

Deadpool's brain cells are similarly affected, with dying neurons being rejuvenated at a super accelerated rate. This allows Deadpool to recover from any head wounds, and it renders him nearly invulnerable to psychic and telepathic powers, although this ability is inconsistent.

It has been revealed that, at the time his healing ability was given to him, Deadpool suffered from some form of cancer; after the healing factor was given to him, it made his normal cells as well as his cancerous cells unable to die, giving him a heavily scarred appearance beneath his suit.

Deadpool's body is highly resistant to most drugs and toxins, due to his enhanced cell regeneration. For example, it is extremely difficult for him to become intoxicated. He can be affected by certain drugs, such as tranquilizers, if he is exposed to a large enough dosage.[citation needed]

Deadpool is effectively immortal, although he has died several times. He is still alive 800 years in the future when the new X-Force encounters him. In addition, Thanos once declared that Deadpool should "consider yourself cursed ... with life!" out of jealousy over Deadpool's status as Lady Death's love interest. His enemy T-Ray later resurrected him, under Thanos' instruction, using an artifact he had given him. Later, Deadpool was informed that Thanos had placed a curse on him, and tracked Thanos down. He revealed that the only thing keeping Wade alive was his "spell of darkest necromancy". Although Thanos removed this curse in order to kill Deadpool, he felt forced to immediately bring him back using "a fusion of necromancy and science" in order to request his aid in tracking down Mistress Death, who had gone missing.

Deadpool is a highly trained assassin and mercenary, adept in multiple forms of martial arts, and an expert swordsman and marksman. Although in earlier years he was originally portrayed as having superhuman strength, he is no longer depicted as having this ability.

Over the years, Deadpool has owned a number of personal teleportation devices. Also, during Deadpool's first ongoing comic, he possesses a device which projected holographic disguises, allowing him to go undercover or conceal his appearance. He also has a magic satchel containing all of his unlimited weaponry and ammo. Deadpool is multilingual, with the ability to speak fluently in German, Spanish, ASL and Japanese, in addition to his native English.[citation needed]

Since Deadpool is aware that he is a fictional character, he uses this knowledge to his advantage to deal with opponents or gain knowledge to which he should not normally have access, such as reading past issues of his and others' comics. Deadpool knows he has a Wikipedia article and hopes his fans keep his page updated.

Movie deadpool

Lots of Resistant PD and ED hardened defined as his Instant Regen

Regeneration including limb regrowth

Good Dex and SPD. Should be on the campaign's high side

Higher than normal Strength

Good Con, Stun Recovery etc.

His Swords and guns. Probably bought as "focus of Opportunity" because he causes pretty major damage with any weapon he picks up.
