Linked and Unified

Hugh Neilson

Question

Best posed by example, I think.

Lightning Lad has a 12d6 Electric Blast, with a 12d6 Flash Linked proportionately to it, so he must use both powers at the same power level (eg. 12d Blast and Flash, or 8d6 Blast and Flash, but not 6d6 Blast + 12d6 Flash). So far, so good.

However, Parasite attacks Lighting Lad and drains 6d6 of his Blast. Lightning Lad fires back with all of his remaining power. Does he get to fire:

(i) A 6d6 Blast with a 12d6 Flash (ie he must use the same percentage of available points in both Linked powers); or
(ii) A 6d6 Blast with a 6d6 Flash (ie he must use the same number of points in both Linked powers).

If the answer is (ii), then I expect that Lightning Lad cannot also take the Unified Power limitation to Unify his Blast and Flash (there is no further drawback) unless he also Unifies in at least one more ability (which would be Drained with the Blast, or could itself be Drained to reduce the Blast and Flash).
