Which came out as 'I. Leek' and 'P. Short'. To teenagers, these were of immense humor value and proved to us that parents never really think through the implications of children's names. I was coming up over Lookout Hill just as the sun crested the horizon. It illuminated the snow-covered mountains with an almost surreal pink-gold light; the deeper shadows were a luminous purple-blue. The vision lasted for just a few seconds, and then was over.
