They make it sound as if the people had their accidents BECAUSE they were not wearing their seetbelts. Case in point (from the commercial) "I had this great new dress for the prom. No seatbelt was going to ruin my look. (sounds of truck zooming by) We never made it to the prom." SO, you wearing your seltbelt would have made the driver, of whichever vehicle that caused the accident, drive safer? So, yes, the seatbelt would have saved your life.
