(Derivation of the name: Somebody once discovered a creek and named it Ugly Creek. Following it upstream, they discovered that it split into two tributaries, which they named Big Ugly Creek and Little Ugly Creek. The hollows, or 'hollers', through which these creeks flowed were consequently named Big Ugly Hollow and Little Ugly Hollow. This elementary school was located in Big Ugly Hollow.)
