Mr. R
OK, I have an idea in my head about a magic system where you pay for each spell individually, but the spells are on a communal charge system. Let me explain, Lets say the mage has 8 charges per day on all the spells. But if he uses three charges to use his Fire Bolt spell, then all the spell now have five charges. If he then casts a Detect Magic, then all have four charges. I am thinking this would be an additional minus one (-1) in addition to any other charge limitations it may have. SO????? Hyper-Man
It sounds like problem easily solved by a framework with the Charges limitation. HM
Cantriped
Well... typically the legal methods of producing the effect you desire are to either: A: Put all of the Spells that share charges into the same Multipower, and then give the multipower the Charges as an All Slots modifier. Or B: Purchase an Endurance Reserve whose Recovery is only active while you are Asleep or Resting (or that can recover the entire pool all at once, but has Extra Time (1 Day)). Then you simply associate every spell with the Reserve. Personally, I'm not fond of Magic Systems that force a particular purchase method (such as purchasing all spells individually, or in a power framework). There are generally better ways to flavor a magic system.
MrKinister
Well, as the GM, you are the one in charge of pricing the system. But a -1 sounds ok to me. I would give it a -3/4, which is the -1/2 for 8 charges, and then borrow the 'Unified Power' -1/4 concept to signify that if you spend a charge on one power, then all other powers lose a charge as well. (This is for instances when you are NOT using a Multipower, which has its own costs mechanics on the pool when using charges.) This way, it would be based on the number of charges you get, plus the -1/4 for "Shared Charges".
