Comedy seems to be a lost genre with regards to RPGs.  As mentioned earlier in the thread, Paranoia is making a comeback, but TOON?  Ghostbusters?  Teenagers From Outer Space?  Nobody seems interested in thoroughly unserious roleplaying.

Which reminds me of the (funny) animals genre: Bunnies and Burrows, Albedo, etc.

And then there was the religiously-themed stuff like Nephilim and In Nomine.

Archer there is the Weird War series of games from Savage Worlds. They are WWI, WWII and Vietnam Nam. Called weird because like Deadlands, there is magic and monsters in them.

Yes and no.  In Deadlands magic and monsters are a part of the everyday world.  In Weird War the world is semi-historical and the magic/monster part are "military" programs each side uses for advantage whose existance is keep as secret as possible.  Can't panic the civilians can we.  Great settings though.

Don't forget Weird Wars Rome.

Cant remember if I mentioned it, but comparing pre-1980 or so to post-1980 or so.  The Western has become semi-lost.  (of course still pops up, but on a scale of 1-100, it went from 98 to about 15)

That more or less coincides with western shows no longer being on prime time TV and starting to drop out from being popular in reruns.

Comedy itself is a lost genre, these days.

Some may be forgetting that video games have come a long way since the 1980’s. Genre taste have shifted. Post apocalyptic games have moved off the table, and into the console, or PC. WW2 is very popular, from Warthunder to IL-2 Battle of Ali an, to Postscriptum. Modern combined arms and close teamwork exist in the Arma series. I won’t say a lot about Star Citizen, but it is a Science Fiction environment. Fantasy endures on the table top, because, unlike other genres(exceptSF), fantasy allows for more creativity, and interpretation.
