WWYCD: Justifiable Homicide?

Your character is at the mall / supermarket / farmer's market one afternoon when a man in a black leather jacket walks up to another man, pulls a gun with a silencer, and shoots him at point blank range. The victim dies instantly, and the shooter slips into the shocked crowd. But your character manages to catch up with the shooter, who surprisingly surrenders without a fight. Upon questioning, the shooter reveals that he is a precognitive telepath, and that he'd had a vision of the victim committing a mass shooting at that same mall / supermarket / farmer's market later that same day. He argues that he saved more than 30 lives by taking out the shooter first.

What does your character do?

Quasar - "Mind Maiden!  AGAIN?  This makes... Oh God!  Get back to headquarters before anyone ELSE sees you..."

Shadowhunter - "PRIMUS has Psy Ops of their own who will confirm your story after a deep mind scan.  So come with me to PRIMUS headquarters right now.  OR I can break every bone on the left half of you body.  Your call.  I'm not picky."

Mystica - "Punch-punch, Bang-bang heroes will be busy tonight.  So will Mystica.  New artifact to analyse."

Most of my characters would wonder what prevented the precog from disabling the future shooter instead.

"I saw that if I just walked up and punched him, some jackass in a costume was going to fly over and beat me up, letting the shooter get away."

Most of my played characters are heroic enough to take the alleged perp to the cops if he surrenders, no matter what the circumstances. Some of my anti-heroic NPCs might let him go, if their prejudices align with the shooter's claims (or if there is other supporting evidence).

Depends on my character.  Most of my PC characters would turn him over to the authorities.  I do have a GM anti-villain who would come up to him and say "I'm sorry, but I'm from the future and you killed 30 innocent people in cold blood." and then shoot him in the head and kill him.  If asked about it himself, he would just say "I'm not justifying my actions.  I'm a murderer plain and simple."

You might need to reread the scenario.

I have to agree it depends on the character.  The most interesting character I have would be my own precog.  What would have probably happened is my character would have seen his character shooting the suspect and tried to stop him.  The question is would the other precog have seen me, seeing him and try and avoid me?  If so would I have seen him, seeing me, seeing him? And If he had seen me, seeing him ………….

John Robert/Sunburn: He won't let the fact he is a 'retired superhero's stop him from saving lives. If he can capture the assassin, he will, AND turn him over to the police. He still remembers Konorack (sp!) and his encounter with Jeffrey Dhalmer.

Lady Heart: S/he is more conferrable taking out monsters and mystical villains than other threats. Again, she will focus on saving lives than capture.

Paradox Timely: She COULD tell you if what the assassin said is true or not. The question is, did what the assassin did change the future for Ill? If so, then she must correct it. Which makes her an outcast, cause she cares about preserving the time line.
