Luthors Masterplan in Batman vs Superman

Luthor's entire plan hinged on the following: that Superman would be able to find Lois in the five seconds that it would take for her to hit the ground. And that Superman would not be able to find his own mother in ten minutes in a deliberate search.

He needed both of those things to be true for his plan to work.

He needed Superman to hear Lois' scream and come to the rescue before she hit the ground so he could steer Supes to Gotham. And then he needed Supes to be unable to find Martha, so Batman and Supes would actually come into contact. It's probably the biggest single, most concise plot hole in a movie that was basically just a Russian nesting doll of plot holes.

You can do this two ways.  One is Summon which is too expensive, or a Mind Link w/Superman, Incantations ["Help, Superman!"] (+1/4).

We call that the Teri Hatcher option.

Animated DC has always been much, much better than live action DC.  Although I did like Lois & Clark

John Shea was a brilliant businessman and mastermind, but lacked the scientific genius we've come to expect from Lex.

I prefer evil businessman Luthor over mad scientist Luthor by a long ways.  It sets him apart from most other bad guys, makes him sort of unique instead of just another gadget guy.  It makes him scary and dangerous in a realm Superman has no power or understanding over.

In Atom Man vs. Superman Lex Luthor was both an evil businessman and evil scientist.  He was caught in the first chapter but in exchange for a scientific device got a pardon and bough a TV station.  Wearing a lead mask he committed crimes as the Atom Man using his handy teleportation device.
