death tribble
Today the Tour de France started in the Quartier de Bagatelle in Toulouse. This is a housing estate blighted by gang violence, drugs and gun seizures (AK47s). A local initiative started ten years ago tried to help local children by involving them in sports and journalism. They tried to get football clubs to be interviewed by the kids but they were somewhat reluctant. The children were taken to see part of the Tour and one asked ;'Why don't they come here ?'. So began a campaign by activists to get the Tour to the area which succeeded this year. Because of the amount of road furniture they could not end the Tour there but they could start it and this is what they did. The race director, the local mayor and France's president have all been involved and been vocal in their support. wcw43921
Saw this posted on Facebook and thought I'd pass it along. Not only are the images useful for medieval/fantasy maidens, but the fact that this young woman taught herself to make them is proof that your superhero characters can learn to make their own costumes through patience and effort, just as she did.
