We finally got some vog today.  Not too bad though.


The situation in Kapoho has stabilized, to the degree that a huge, constant flow of lava running to the sea can be described as "stable".  It really sucks for the people whose houses haven't been destroyed yet.

It's complicated enough that I'm still fuzzy on it after five minutes of googling.  In some cases it's covered as fire damage, but not all, and IIRC in the past there were some instances where homeowners needed to set fire to their homes right before the lava touched it.  Another question is whether having a giant fissure open beneath your home is covered under earthquake insurance.
