I expect Rodan to lose, but don't sell him too short. Rodan has always been the fastest, most agile flier of all the Toho monsters, and Ghidorah is fighting him in his element.

Perhaps, but Ghidorah is much larger in this film(and presumably tougher). Plus it has those lightning rays. I don't think any single monster could stand against it for long(though they may have Godzilla do it).

Ghidorah always loses because he lands on the ground and bites. Old canon was because even though he had three heads , he was one of the stupidest kaiju. If he's made to be semi-intelligent and fights that way, then Godzilla needs something to force him to the ground. Close combat advantage goes to Godzilla.

It is hard to imagine a King Kong vs. Godzilla remake (the next film expected in this "franchise") topping KOTM. Unless they pull a BvS and throw in a bunch more kaiju than just the two title characters. But then the title is just plain misleading and the movie starts to feel like KOTM all over again. I think maybe they should just go straight to a remake of Destroy All Monsters, where it starts out with a confrontation between Godzilla and King Kong, and then escalates to a massive kaiju battle royale.

Part of the problem, depending on what they do in KOTM is that they have portrayed both G and KK as being guardians. And now that they have used Ghidora, whom can you throw in that is really a threat to both. Course, is a classic Superhero team up, of course the heroes start off fighting, but then team up to finish the bad guy.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Just like BvS where they start fighting each other but then have to become allies to defeat a larger threat. Maybe something like Destroyah. Or something entirely new. Something that brings with it a bunch of kaiju allies of its own.

They're sticking with real world tech so far, so Mechagodzilla would be a stretch. Destroyah would be a good choice as would Gigan if we're drawing from the original sources only.  There's always a chance that they'll use one of the new KOTM Kaiju based on popular feedback from the movie. Reshoot ten or so lines and animate those fights last and they could even make it a public fan contest without delaying the movie.

King Kong also has a bit of a size problem in that it makes no sense that Kong spent almost a century growing to a height of 104', and then growing to 300' (a height arguably necessary to put him on even footing against a 355' tall Godzilla) only two years later.

I'm not sure of the timeline you're proposing. We don't know when this Kong was born. The giant gorilla we see first in 1944 in Kong: Skull Island might have been one of Kong's parents. But K:SI is set in 1973, so by the time he faces Godzilla he'll have had nearly 50 years to grow larger.

It's my theory that predation by the Skull Crawlers regularly killed members of Kong's species before they could reach their full potential size. But Kong killed the last Crawler who could effectively threaten him.

If they're both guardians, maybe... there can be only one!

But to take that point seriously, one of the trailers mentioned that the various kaiju were "battling for dominance -- a rival alpha to Godzilla." Kong is clearly the alpha of Skull Island. Perhaps once he outgrows the island, the world won't be big enough for both of them. After all, these things aren't superheroes, they're basically animals.
