Maybe it's done to avoid a "red is only for villains" trope? Note that the 1980s GI Joe cartoon had COBRA shooting blue lasers, while the Joes used red lasers. The same information is still available in the NASA domain, but as a large complex of linked pages, a format I find approximately worthless. This is a 300-page book PDF, and the content is in the public domain, the PDF states on page ii.
