I feel better about my state's Dept of Natural Resources for this.

Make them beg for the political discourse: start learning to play bagpipes.

Ever been in a bookstore with nothing but kids' books (and I mean children, not young adults) and regency romances?  Among those chambers of Hell that have been outsourced into the mortal plane.

(Sits down to read The Monster at the End of This Book and Where the Wild Things Are )

We need 24-hour bookstores.

Back in the Eighties/early Nineties, we had Odyssey Records on Las Vegas Boulevard, which was open 24/7. I lived nearby, and when I found myself unable to sleep at 3 AM, I'd get dressed and go shopping. Even at that time in the morning, there would be about a dozen people shopping.

The owner finally took an offer by Wherehouse, with the condition that he ran it. They pushed him out a few years later, and it became corporatized. The store closed after Wherehouse's bankruptcy/absorption into FYE Music.

And I still miss shopping there.
