Enforcer84 Dagna, Godess of Lands and Stone!

  • Geography. The Floating Islands of the First Walkers

  • Sentient Life. First Walkers

  • Gift to Civilization. Music and the Arts

  • Flora. Eyes of the Earthmother

  • Interference.

  • Mythic Monster or Guardian. Terrash the Behemoth

  • Secondary Domain. Mining

  • Secondary Domain .

  • Secondary Domain: .

Dagna looks at  the foolishness of others. Worms are cute and all...but they're not knowledgable. You'd think divine beings could grasp that. Well if we have no words on paper, she will champion pictures on stone. Enter Runecraft magic. The runes can be crafted on stone and metal, ingredients can include tinfoil wrapped worms of exceptional knowing. Or blood.  Or gold. She loves gold.

Dagna's final domain, for she is a goddess who loves the bold and the resourceful will be Adventure. Adventurers often seek the treasures from her domains. She will guide them.

Secondary Domain: Rune Magic

Secondary Domain: Adventure

Interference: Dagna's not inerested in interference much. But if my rune craft is too "undoing the done" that will be my interference too.

So "symbiosis" basically means agriculture or horticulture?

I was thinking more broadly than that.  Even humans working cooperatively in a mutually beneficial manner would qualify.  After all the God of Hearth and Hospitality wants everyone to benefit from each others efforts.

Har'Ak cares not whether the symbiosis is between a human and their garden, a bee and the flower or farmer sheltering a weary traveler from the rain in return for news about the outside world.

ScottishFox, Har’Ak God of the Hearth and Hospitality!

  • Geography: Gardens, vineyards and open fields

  • Sentient Life:

  • Gift to Civilization: Ripe Meat off the Bone and Strong Drink

  • Fauna: Travelers' Mercy/Delight/Lament

  • Interference:  Greed, Sloth, Excess, Carelessness and Hostility.  Each gift of Har'Ak has a dark twin.

  • Mythic Monster or Guardian: The Dour Man

  • Secondary Domain: The Benevolent Flame

  • Secondary Domain: The Homeward Glimmer

  • Secondary Domain: Symbiosis

Interference:

Wherever there is generosity arises grift.

Wherever there is plenty arises sloth.

Wherever there is respite arises indulgence.

Wherever there is safety arises destruction.

Wherever there is peace arises violence.

And for the final bit - Sentient Life:

The current peoples of the world were not the first that Har'Ak sought to instruct in the ways of Hearth and Hospitality.  There was a far older race that he blessed with His gifts.  A primitive breed of one-eyed cave dwellers were the first to know His presence.  In time they mastered the hearth, the garden and the home.  But, they were a miserably selfish lot and hoarded rather than shared.  They left their own to suffer while they grew fat in excess.

Har'Ak was infuriated by this and laid a mighty curse upon their race.  They would forever dwell within the mountains in their homes of stone.  And they would forever be only able to consume as much as they shared.  Half was the price of their greed.

Still the selfish one-eyed brutes couldn't stomach the idea of giving away food, warmth and shelter.  So they became master craftsmen and began bitterly to trade with the newer peoples of the world.

They traded bronze for lumber; cut stone for crops and their unmatched brews for food.  Many of them would eventually call upon the name of Concinnant  as they took to cursing Har'Ak for their troubles.

It is said that their kind can survive outside the mountain only as long as they do not sleep.  When a Cyclops grows weary and sleeps outside the mountain he turns to stone and cracks.  The legends of trolls arose from such deaths.

My final secondary domain, which I don't think is taken by anything else, yet.

The art of brines and broths, seasonings and spices, soups and stews and sweets. You can eat to survive, or you can eat to thrive. The Art of Cookery, the Culinary Arts of creating delicious food and succulent recipes. (The Amamaun cuisine  is not to everyone's tastes, with the lack of fire under the sea, but can still be surprisingly tasty.)

Cyclops! THAT is what they were called!  Concinnant made a mental note to send thanks to  Har'Ak for rediscovering them, or discovering them or..well, the God would ask a certain Water/Time Deity about how that worked.

When Magic was seized, Concinnant was not concerned per se... true, Pandemonium has proven vicious, seeking a strange monopoly on the minds of everyone. Fortunately, runecraft and tinfoil hats helped liberate literacy and should protect against the worst even if it wasnt' as widely spread as the G0D might like.

But the claim that the majority of people would be working for food production? Who decided this? Meat on the bone had been offered by one god, Soup by another...  It was certainly Not a given in lands that had steampunk automatons and more... the gift of technology had already been given.

Perhaps the full ramifications of that must finally be stressed. Not mastery, not monopoly, but parallel avenues.

Last pick and interference

Interference: Anything Magic can do,  Technology can do too but with the following caveats: Cheap, Fast, ,or Good- Pick 2. So the bad news is the use of inventions or tech may take longer, maybe of slightly less quality, OR might cost material resources. The goodnews? these alternatives don't cause  madness! Of course, just because the technology is there, doesn't mean every people has access to it. Sapient species must not have all the work done for them... oh but show them what can be, and they will rise to make it so.

In that, respect is given to the Lord of Magic as an inspiration.

Olos wondered about what he could create. True he had made a sea out the air but it was Rebastia's realm and that god still had dominion over it. He wandered for an age until he became aware of a certain problem. All the peoples could break laws but they could escape punishment or evade capture. There was nowhere that could hold anyone securely. And that was what gave Olos an idea. People could swim in the sea or walk on the land but only the Skyborne and birds could fly.

So Olos created a prison in the sky so that there would be no escape from the justice of the gods or anyone else.

Final interference....

One that could cause a ripple...hm...

How about this...

Spreading word to the indigenous creatures of the land that everything they believe about their Gods are LIES!

Concinnant sighs as a holy war breaks out in some areas regarding the G0D's sex... clearly it is a he or she... and those who believe it is one will not tolerate those who believe it is the other.

the Amazonian uprising will be a bloody one.

Be careful out there!

Interference: Food that Talks is not Food.

If anything gifted with speech and reason consumes the flesh of another so gifted, they run the risk of becoming a Ghoul. Bestial in aspect, Ghouls suffer the curse of Undead Slowness, and are widely regarded with fear and horror.

Tziruü proclaims ... Its sentient race, the Fsh'mrrm.  Yes, they are worms, sort of; more precisely, lobopods, some modern varieties of which are called "velvet worms".  Appropriately enough, on real Earth, Hallucigenia is among their analog ancestors, and in this they related to the Tardigrades.  They are repelled by bright light (but find the Wormlight quite comfortable), are secretive, prefer wet or humid conditions, and communicate by subsonic vibrations sent through the substrate they walk on.  Not tool-makers themselves, they do domesticate/enslave worms and other vermiform creatures.  They tend to avoid those who walk on legs ... the walkers' footfalls are kind of unmistakable ... and the Fsh'mrrm's gatherings ... conclaves, when they have real business to transact, or are collected together to perform the rites honoring their creator ... are done under pale wormlight, near standing water.

When they need to communicate with the intelligent chordates, it is usually by writing, which appears mysteriously in the semidarkness.  In great need, they use a more direct intermediary.

BTW, Lord Tribble, you have "The Godmaker" for my Interference in some of your recap posts.  That's an error, a holdover from my entry in last year's draft.

Tziruü proclaims ... Its flora: Wormroot.  A plant that grows just about everywhere (well, not in active volcanic vents and so on), it is edible by everything, even if everything can (or even prefers) to eat meat.  The starchy and protein-laden roots are nutritious, and the stem can be twisted and squeezed to yield a drinkable sap.  Not the most exciting of foods, but it'll keep just about anything alive.

Tziruü proclaims ... Its Gift to all races: the Restful Peace.

Within Our primary Domain of Decay and Unmaking, we offer to all sophonts a painless, certain, and irrevocable end to existence.  The end to suffering, with assurance that one will not become one of the restless undead, or have their shade summoned and forced to serve some master, or will pass onto an afterlife loaded with torment, regret, or remorse.  Yes, one's survivors may revere the memory (or curse it), but if one chooses, by drawing the Sign of the Worm on one's self, one can escape all travail, eternally.

Tziruü proclaims a secondary domain: Empathy.

If you dedicate yourself thoroughly enough to listening, you can perceive another's feelings: their hurts, their desires, their contentment, their anxiety.  Not very many undertake that dedication, but it is there for all who wish.  This does not override Our Gift: you cannot empathize with one who has entered the Restful Peace.  But short of that ... even a zombie ... you can, with sincere effort.  It may be, of course, that there's not much there to perceive ...
