The Most Annoying Song of All Time

Recommended Posts

Dude!

It's probably because I can't understand a damned word of it until the Khadafi clone speaks two sentences of english, but I kind of like that.  It's sort of a reggae/rap blend that, as you say-- has a very cyberpunk feel, and it just kind of works together.   All those BMW flatties don't hurt, either.  :D

It is not even the worst Christmas song.

Right you are.

That honor belongs to that one with the guy choking on tears and blubbering out "Have a very Merry Christmas!  And a Happy new year!"

While the Children of the Corn are behind him, swaying in the wind  with "aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaAAAAAAA......"

That is a thing of nightmares....

Thirded on the Graton Casino TV ads featuring what sounds like an even higher pitched version of "Feel It Still". I am neutral on the group Portugal The Man but that song is extremely... Gratin... I have even let the casino know how annoying it is. Doesn't have any effect. I guess they paid their bucks to PTM for it and will milk it for all its worth. I make sure I have the remote handy so I can mute the TV whenever that damn commercial comes on.

Initially I thought it was a female voice. Then I did some research and discovered it's a guy in the group. I was hoping that knowledge would make it less Gratin, but no, it's just as bad if not slightly worse (couldn't be a lot worse because it's already super annoying).

The draw back is that often I get distracted by other stuff and don't turn the sound back on as soon as the Graton commercial is done. Somebody needs to invent a remote with a timed mute button (if it's not already out there). I have also considered contact each local TV station that plays the commercials to let them know how PO'd I am about it.

Peace on.

Seconded for the very reason you mentioned. That song just hurt my ears.

Right now I have a special hate for "Feel It Still" by Portugal. The Man. A local casino (Graton Resort & Casino) is using it for almost all its commercials. At first I thought it was an update of "Please, Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes, but I was wrong. Thank God for the mute button!

Also,  anything being sung by Mariah Carey is pretty annoying to me. She's just too shrill for me.

Am I to take it that all anyone wanted for Christmas is to not hear that record by Mariah Carey ?

Mariah Carey I can handle. (Besides, it's one of Lady P's favourites, so whether or not I like it is moot in any case.) The three I despise are:

1) That non-Christmas protest song by John Lennon

2) The aforementioned non-Christmas breakup song by Wham

3) Any version of "Santa Baby" not sung by Eartha Kitt

There are some other stinkers, but these are the three worst, IMHO. I made it through the entire holiday season having heard only one of them, thank the heavens.

First off, anything with an accordion.

I general, this is a valid statement.  I will link here the exception that proves your rule.

I can't listen to that while driving, not because I dislike it, but because when it's over I'm going 22 mph faster than I was when it started.  I have a list of leadfoot-inducing songs.

I've learned to turn on the mute button whenever there's a commercial break, since there are lots of other things that grate on my nerves. Especially the Intel music.

I hate most Christmas music, so I avoid hearing it at all. I have only heard that song once or twice despite my best friend raving about it.

Ironically, Lennon's song is probably the only Christmas song I actually like.

I always thought it was about giving someone a record by Nowegian group aHa

I like “Take on Me”, not necessarily the original version but some of the covers of it. Try the one by Lake Street Dive for the A.V. Undercover line of videos on YouTube.
I am an old geezer at heart who still uses VHS and audio cassette tapes and am completely incompetent to put that video here.  If somebody likes the band or their take on the song, put it on up.
