I just wonder why I'm still classified as a "New Member" after being here for 16 years.  Babies born when I joined the board are driving now!  🙂

Probably your low post count. But under Account Settings -> Edit Profile -> Basic Info you should be able to change your title to whatever you want. I just changed mine to "Beetlejuice" for no reason whatsoever to demonstrate.

I think you need 500 posts before that option comes available.

I've tried, off and on for years to edit my Rank, but the feature has never been available.  Plus, I've seen board members with lower post counts and newer membership dates with custom Ranks.  At my current post rate, I'll be in my mid-80s when I can edit my rank.  Only 30+ years to go!  🙂

I really don't want to suggest this, but every board I've been in that tracked rep had one thing in common:

If there was a humor or pictures thread, posts on those threads consistently received three or more times as many reactions as typical for posts on the rest of the board.

This board has a thread (that I love) for pictures that are humorous.

Consider finding something unique you can put up there once or twice a week.  Perhaps there is a "rep trigger" of some sort that might unlock your custom rank.

Do keep in mind that these are just wags.  ;)

I just want to know where the "edit your signature line" tools went.  😕

You spend too much time writing posts and not enough exploring the software....

I don't know how you did that, Doc, but thanks for the Link.

[EDIT:

I finally found the problem.  There is a disconnect for some reason between what is displayed in the area of my screen i which that particular drop-down menu is displayed and where my track ball seems to _think_ it is.  I have spent _weeks_ trying to get that thing to drop down, and it won't do it.

Found it just now, attempting to give it "one last try" after your link proved it existed.

Tonight I've been writing, and have the screen slip top and bottom, with the forum on the bottom (I usually do a side-to-side; forum on the right).  When I clicked on it with the banner of the board well low from where it usually is, it worked!

A quick uninstall / reinstall of the drivers for the trackball seems to have cured the problem completely.  Thanks again, Doc: if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have even known I had a problem (other than common lunacy, of course ;)  )

I believe you have to have some de minimis number of posts before getting out of "moderator", but moderation is pretty quick.  It's largely a spam protector, I believe.

At the bottom right of your post, I see a heart.  If I hover over it, it goes colour and provides reaction options.  If you can't see it, I suspect reactions are unavailable until that minimum post count is achieved.
