archer
Consent in Gaming by Sean K. Reynolds and Shanna Germaine https://www.montecookgames.com/consent-in-gaming/ Tackle Mature Content with Confidence! From fending off an attack by bloodthirsty pirates to delving into dank caverns, roleplaying games allow you to explore and experience things you probably don’t want to face in real life—or to approach topics from the perspective of characters who may be very different than your actual self. This shared experience is intended to be fun for all involved, but RPGs can put characters in life-or-death crises, intense emotional situations, or traumatic environments. Whether it’s body horror in a scary game, violence against children or animals in a fantasy world, flirty, romantic, or sexual relationships in any setting—or numerous other challenging scenarios—the line between fun and awkward, difficult, or downright unpleasant can be difficult to identify, and varies dramatically from player to player. Mature or controversial elements can and should be a part of many RPGs. But how do you know what topics to include or leave out of your games? How do you include potentially difficult elements while ensuring that nobody’s game night is ruined? Consent in Gaming gives you the strategies you need to make sure everyone at the table has a great experience, even when the game goes in a challenging direction. pinecone
I've been reading a lots of "loud" comments on the interwebs about this both pro and con. I am suprised that this raises so much reaction. By both points of view...I wonder how many are in the middle about this sort of thing? The indifferent ones probably aren't commenting because they're indifferent. Nolgroth
sentry0
I can see this having some value for a convention style game where it's a bunch of strangers getting together for the first time. I doubt a group of IRL friends would have a lot of use for it. Remember this - https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2019/06/rpg-shocking-inappropriate-behavior-at-ukge-the-importance-of-consent-in-games.html?. It could have potentially been avoided if something like this was in place.

I think that is what set it all off, though there are some who say that is a one sided narative and the actual facts differ. The usual internet muddiness. Going Only by one version of the events, it looks like the correct action. But I've listened to commentators say that it was something the player(s) imagened had occured...need All the facts to decide. But something like this should make it less likely to occur. But they probably should. Taken too far and you have people poisoning the well for narcisistic reasons, or having many GM's just not want to deal...
