Run HD from a directory that you have full access to -- it will remember the last folder you use for characters, prefabs, templates, etc....but only if it can write the appPrefs.xml file when it's run.

That's weird. It doesn't seem to do that. I'm running it on my home machine which I of course have full access to.

Not only that, but when I do run it after the computer shuts down, it completely forgets which characters I was using (the recent characters tab is empty). I also have it on an older machine and it doesn't do that.

You do not have full access (or, more appropriately, the process running HD does not have full access).  May want to follow the install directions included on the download page...

Is this information from when you purchased the program and downloaded, and is therefor in your 'Manage my orders'? If so I have no access to that information as all those details got wiped when the website was converted over. None of my pdfs, programs, or other purchases are attached to my account anymore.

If it's somewhere else, I can't see it in the store or in the documentation.

I've just carried the files from one machine to the next.

So your software is over 6 years out of date (and outside of the support contract) and you're wondering about issues?

Two things:

1. You're so far outside of the support contract that you purchased HD under that there is nothing I can do to help. I think that the issues you're seeing are due to Windows UAC, but it's going to be on you to figure that out. There are likely also a large number of issues caused by the way you've been transferring HD from system to system (extra files, extracted jar files, etc.).

2. No other support will be available for you until you update to the current version of HD.
