Fever broke last night. I'm going to be okay.

I tested positive.

The real bar to me retiring is my daughter.  Children of full-time employees have their tuition waived.  It's a golden handcuffs arrangement for me.

So, how much sick time do you have saved up?  Would now be a good time to develop a debilitating back spasm?

I've longed to figure out a way to get a week off at least during this. But, it seems I am hampered my own work honor code about not making things unnecessarily hard on my co,workers.

Curse you, Code vs Slacking

Way better than my current masks, which smell like halitosis and beard funk after about five minutes.

I usually use a beard balm and/or mustache wax, and I'm most happy with the Timber Scent, followed by the Lime & Sage.

I am lucky my sense of smell is impaired. A smell needs to be moderately strong, and a once a week wash seems about right, like my Hs gym clothes back in the day.

Note: I did go 3 weeks without washing the gym clothes once, and by the end I was debating whether to just take the grade penalty for not dressing out.  On the bright side, no one wanted to guard me in the basketball game.

I resolved the [problem by buying a box of ten reusable cloth masks made by a company famous for its underwear. It's worked out quite well so far -- if I remember, I use a different mask every day and wash masks on a weekly basis.

The masks come out wrinkled but still cover what they need to cover.

My big problem is forgetting to mask up before going to places, and I almost always remember that I'd forgotten it almost immediately. If possible I go back in and get mine, but my local transit service is willing to offer you a one-use mask if you get on without one. Which is no guarantee that people will use these masks correctly, but then there never is.

But I can only control what I do myself. Even if it means getting places later than intended when I decline to get on a bus while unmasked.

My mother had difficulty breathing with the mask so people in one of the shops got her one of the face shields that they were which was nice. She can breathe properly and be socially distant.

We had those as an option at work. I saw myself likely whacking that thing with my hand several times an hour, which would defeat the purpose.

Yeah, perhaps the most personally distressing aspect of covid-19 safety measures has been finding out what my breath smells like an hour after brushing and flossing my teeth, with nothing but water consumed in the meantime. I have been chugging mouthwash like it's going out of style ever since, and am considering buying a tongue scraper.

This is scary. FDA has issued its first ever list of shortages of medical supplies due to COVID-19 and the estimated duration of the shortages.

Makes you think back to all those presidential statements about the abundant supplies of PPE which he has made available nationwide....
