I have an ArtOGraph Lightpad. My issue with them has more to do with the paper quality and the printer they came out of. I've got lines running across the images that show up when it is backlit.

I used to do something somewhat similar many years ago. I'm just surprised to hear something like that from someone on the boards. :)

You can also print out a template you want, cover the general area of the figure on the back of the sheet with a flat sketching pencil, and then trace the template outlines lightly over a blank sheet of the paper you want to use for the finished image. An old low-tech tip from my Art degree days.
