Logan D. Hurricanes
APART FROM its widespread appearance in popular songs due to rock‘n’roll singers’ apparent obsession with teenage girls, 17 in itself is not a number that has lent itself easily to the development or culture of mankind. In fact, it has been shown to be the epitome of randomness. Studies have shown that if you ask people to pick a number between 0 and 20, 17 will come up more often than any other. Because of this it is called a ‘psychologically random’ number, a number that is perceived as being more random than others. Because we see even numbers and multiples of 5 as having some pattern to them, numbers ending in 1, 3, 7 or 9 are often psychologically random, especially if they are prime numbers too. --The Book of Numbers Also... In Italy 17 is regarded with fear. In Roman numerals it is XVII, and anagram of which is Vixi, which means I am dead. Tenuous as this may seem, it was enough for Renault to change the name of its R17 to R117 in Italy. And just as many buildings skip the 13th floor, Italian buildings skip the 17th, and some airliners have no row 17.
Logan D. Hurricanes
But 17 is no 4.
Cancer
Indeed. It is FOUR 4's, plus 1.
Pariah
According to the NFL 100 series, the greatest player ever to wear number 17 was/is Philip Rivers. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
Cancer
Hm. Whom do they claim for number 3? If it isn't Bronko Nagursky, then that whole concept is entirely invalid.
Pariah
That's exactly who they have for #3, with Jan Stenerud as honorable mention. The list is here, if anyone's interested. I find some of their choices questionable, such as #24. But it's basically a solid list.
Logan D. Hurricanes
#4 is Brett Favre. That's not bad. Pariah

At my last job I worked on the 14th floor of the building, which I was fond of pointing out was actually the 13th floor. It went well with the ghost stories. Favre has never worn a number in any game of his that I've seen. See..nothing there. I always assumed he had a waiver or something.
