Tech
I created a master villain for this weekends Champions game but it got me wondering: how do you go about designing a master villain for your heroes? It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts.
DShomshak
At risk of immodesty, I will once again recommend my article, "Megavillains!" in Digital Hero #3. You can read an excerpt here: http://web.archive.org/web/20051124024313/http://herogames.com/digitalHero/Samples/dh03megavillains.htm Dean Shomshak Steve and Lord Liaden
death tribble
I look at a role for the master villain. What are they doing and how is the world affecting them. ? For example I have a Magneto analogue called Superior. She set up a homeland for mutants taking over Angola in West Africa. She had to be able to take on heroes face to face but also charm them or negotiate. Her background was that she was a Russian WW2 soldier who found put she was a mutant who spent the 50s training herself up for the battles to come, learning new languages and making contacts that would help her in the long run. This also meant she found someone to make the armour she wore in the 'villainous' ID. I used a variation on Stryfe for the picture. You can use different roles and motivations of master villains to push the stories. I would also point people to Aaron Allston's Strike Force book and how campaigns are run.
