  3. You guys think we can only move on in one direction?
  4. Historical coins found under floor in Britain sell for £60,000. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-68885685 Why does the sky over Athens look orange ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-68887377
  5. Shirley MacLaine is 90 today and Tony Visconti is 80. Cedric the Entertainer and Djimon Hounsou are 60 today. Bud Abbot died this day 50 years ago. Estee Lauder died this day twenty years ago.
  6. By definition one cannot move on through an impasse.
  7. OT (In Whoniverse): Adric can do Block Transfer Computations, the most powerful mathematical discipline in the Universe that can shape reality itself, in his head. Not even the most intelligent of Time Lords can do that. Matthew Waterhouse wouldn't want to hear it, as he pretty much gave up on acting, but a ticked-off Adric having gone to some random point in the universe and nursing a grudge against the beloved mentor who left him spiraling through time and space to die could make a good DWRPG adventure.
  8. I thought the reason the manuscript cannot be deciphered is that there's nothing really there and the thing is a forgery concealed by its gobbledygook content. You can't find a coherent meaning because there isn't one. You might as well write a term paper on The King in Yellow.
  9. Q: Describe the Russian legal system in five words or less. A: Of course I don't play dice with the universe, because the Universe always wins. Now, Roulette....
  10. If it's being mentioned on a gaming site it can't be THAT secret...
  11. Dune Part Two is -- something. It's not a movie for the casual viewer seeking escapism. This is a film that revolves almost entirely on very serious topics and addresses them as such -- topics like the nature of religion itself and its social effects and consequences. I would have had a better time seeing SpyxFamily, but won't get the chance due to my work schedule.
  12. Depleted Milwaukee is the first to lose a home game. With Giannis out...not entirely surprising. EDIT: and Dallas knocks off the Clips, making 2 straight for the road teams.
  13. I can see them becoming teetotalers after those results, at least for a while.
  14. Have you looked at Syzygy, most recently in Champions Villains Volume Three? It's a robotic AI villain with some unique gimmicks, a sort of "Mechanon Lite." It has the directive to conquer the Earth, but is less powerful and has fewer resources than Mechanon. It works as a second-tier master villain with plenty of room to grow, and seeks alliance with other Terrestrial supervillains in pursuit of its goal. And its origin includes a hook that could lead to an epic scenario.
  15. Maybe they just don't want superhero rpg.
  16. Nature abhors a vacuum, therefore *someone* is going to pick up the pieces. Many of the MAGA/Trumpist policies have been on the Republican agenda anyway. If Trump goes, the tone changes, but they can still retain the entire pre-vetting for ideological purity, planning for '28. What aspects of the principle Republican agenda disappear with Trump? EDIT: note the "gains" they've made in several states, in moving to control the education system, the voting system at state levels. They'll still have the Supreme Court. They've largely stripped the legitimacy of several government agencies, when it was in their interest...the CDC being the obvious one. They like the House being seen as a clown show; there's been the argument made that the Supreme Court's loss of respect has led to state-level 'revolts' if you will, like Texas using state agents to enforce border laws...but rendering the House mostly pointless and paralyzed helps with that too. What we need to see is more pushback at the state levels. Preferably, rolling back some of the recent moves like the abortion bans; blocking the extreme moves by, say, Texas, isn't enough. That's a holding action. SOMEHOW breaking the wall of willful ignorance, behind which QAnon thrives.
  17. My turn to disagree. Yes, Trump has no heir apparent. But neither is he unique. The circumstances that created him--extreme wealth inequality, a corrupt boardroom class, and a frightened, undereducated population--will still exist if Trump leaves power. Sure, there will be a lull while the MAGA base and the oligarchy find another demagogue to rally around. But they inevitably will, unless something is done about the conditions that ultimately drove Trump's rise to power.
  18. I think it's fair to say that Howie Schwab was the first celebrity sports stats/info type guy. He was big on ESPN...even to the point of them trying a sports trivia show called Stump the Schwab. He was part of the first of the big purges at ESPN back in 2013, but continued to be valuable behind the scenes in other ways (including being Fox's NCAA bracketologist for a couple years, which I hadn't known.) He died, apparently of a heart attack, Monday. Age 63.
  19. Today was the funeral for the male human fighter. It was also the wake, which naturally involved a lot of alchohol. I rolled on a table I found online to see how the surviving PCs (three humans and a halfling) woke up. The fighter (only female in the group) woke up in a ditch after losing a fight. One cleric woke up tied to a tree, left for dead. The other cleric woke up in a strange house. A female half-ogre kept calling him "Pet." The halfling thief woke up in the town square, completely covered with flowers, but otherwise naked. Where do they go from there?
  20. And pain can absolutely keep you awake. I'd also extend your statement, CRT, to include the (in)ability to focus on what's going on around you...disorientation. That's what getting stunned is. And to a point...serious, sharp pain would do that too. Even pass out. Had THAT happen once. LONG!!! time ago. OLD fridge on the top, freezer on the bottom. The doors had squared corners. I was getting something from the freezer...didn't realize the fridge door was open...and stood up quickly. Corner went *squarely* into my back. I don't remember anything after that...even tho I believe a trip to the hospital was involved. But generally, yeah, they're not well-connected concepts.
