  3. Batman is also physically tougher and faster than most other superheroes (and villains). If he is forced to be within the NCM limits, so should they be. This bunches everyone into an arbitrary narrow range without any obvious benefit to the game. It clearly wasn't the intention of the game's designers, who provided us with plenty of examples of "normal" characters outside that range. NCM was designed for non-superheroic genres. It is, in my opinion, misapplied when it is used in superheroic games.

  5. This thread is a good example of why you should describe the effect you are modeling in plain language before you jump into the rules. What is the effect you are after? What are its effects? What does it look like? What are its impacts on the game? Etc.

  6. What's the go to phrase nowadays ? Oh yeah, hold my beer ! Quanta Alexis Steppanopolous became the gadget user Quanta after supervillains attacked her college and used primary school kids as guinea pigs for experiments. This had such an impact on her that she became an engineer and inventor. She is perpetually frowning as she has seen the downside of crime. She does not have a battlesuit per se but uses gauntlets to blast opponents and a levitation/propulsion belt to fly. Her mask is more of a high tech apparatus to view objects and to send/receive transmissions.

  7. CW does seem to do DC characters right for the most part. There are a lot of Easter Eggs as well. Of course it doesn't keep Flash and Arrow to follow the same pattern each season. Flash will be up against an invincible villain and then find an easy way to take him down after one of his friends is killed, and Arrow will go up against an untouchable villain, alienate those around him, make the wrong decision, and then has to fight the villain one on one.

  8. Highly recommended. Best straight up superhero show that manages to tread the gritty street crime feel and the truly superheroic wonderfully well. On top of that it actually has great writing and acting.

  9. A simpler solution is use Increse END Cost for electricity powers, and Reduced END Cost for fire powers. It has no effect on REC, but it is also less book keeping. You could instead use Limited Power (Cost END And Long Term END: suggested value -1/4) on all electricity powers. But this also becomes complicated book keeping. Remember, you have to track END, STUN, and BODY. You rairly have to track Long Term END except for special circumstances.

  17. I think you may be reading a bit too much into my post. IMO, all of the characters follow the same rules. Nobody is forcing Batman to take NCM, it's just an option. If he had NCM, and he was modeled on what he's capable of even in his solo titles, then he'd have bought up several stats for double cost. I was merely pointing out that NCM = 20s in stats, 8PD/ED, 4 SPD, etc. is a fallacious application of the disadvantage's rule. It's up to the GM to set campaign limitations. Cyclops has nearly every physical stat at a much lower level than Batman, IMO.

  18. Dsatow sorry about my last response. I know your trying to be helpful. I was initially just trying to have a powerful attack instead of several powers. In the game that I’m basing this on, the player can break a reinforced door on a 1-2 on a D6. So I wondered, could I put does Body on a Normal Dice attack so if he hits a door in Hero terms, he may not bust the door but some Body would get through and weaken the door for the next blow or two. So by Raw I can’t. That’s fine, unto plan B. Traditionally Iron Hand is bought as AP and if I use the optional rule for bare hands bend steel, I might ha

  19. NCM is a soft cap. It only means a character has to pay double for exceeding it. Batman certainly has. But he has a lot more points in skills, bases, vehicles, gadgets, contacts, etc.

  24. Deadpool even calls DC out on that in his latest movie trailer. Funny thing is, for the longest time in the comics, DC was the positive and optimistic world where heroes were respected and lauded; while Marvel was the tragic angsty world in which heroes were often distrusted and even persecuted. That point was actually raised in-character during the Avengers/JLA crossover early in the millennium.

  28. Put a limitation on your electrical powers that they have increased End use. 12D6 Energy Blast (fire) -- 6 End 12D6 Energy Blast (electricity), Increased End x2 -- 12 End Your electrical powers will now take twice as long to recharge. If you really want to get more complicated, you can buy some of your Endurance Reserve on a limitation "only for electrical powers". That way you don't run out of End any faster, it just takes longer to recover it. This will save bookkeeping. So... Endurance Reserve: 100 End, 10 Rec plus Endurance Reserve: +1

  30. I know I am probably very late to the party on this one but I recently binge-watched Peaky Blinders series 1 through 4. Utterly brilliant. Compelling storytelling and a superb soundtrack, with cinematography that I swear was so good you could freezeframe at any point and talk about just why everything in the shot was perfectly composed. For those not in the know - it's a drama series about a family of illegal bookmakers and their rise through the underworld set immediately after World War I, and it is tremendous.

  31. Binge watched the final season of Bosch on HBO. If you enjoy top quality acting, drama, excellent plotting, and great character development, I recommend it. A very excellent police procedural. I'm also more than half way through Swiss Family Robinson, as something going on in the background while I clean the house and do laundry, etc. It is basically the kind of show that would have been must see family TV in some earlier era, so while more diverse and better special effects, the writing feels like something from the late '70s. Isle of Dogs was both genius, and tone dea

    More space news!

A recent NOVA episode gave quite a thorough explanation for it all, accessible to non-scientists. (Including a recreation of the 1840 experiment that showed that CO2 absorbs infrared.). EDIT: The title was, "Decoding the Climate Machine." Or maybe "Decoding the Weather Machine." I watched it again, and both titles appeared on screen. Short version is that any "skepticism" about humans causing climate change requires several areas of very well established science to be wrong, in ways that could be detected in a community college science lab. Plus a conspiracy so vast and baroqu

Sochai Dhaliwal is a big guy with tough greyish skin, enlarged tusk-like canine teeth, and a large nose, which combined make him look vaguely elephantine. He likes to joke that he was bitten by a were-elephant when he was a child, but his anatomy is actually due to him being a mutant. While slightly stronger than the Lion of India, Hathi's primary powers are his incredible defenses. 38. Mister Merry - Powered by the festive sides of Saturnalia , Mister Merry does his best to down play some aspects of his origins lest it offend others or worse turn him into some cult leader. With a capacity for causing euphoria, inducing drunken levels of clumsiness, and countering mental affects from others, Mister Merry might be considered the 'mentalist' but his powers go deeper than that. And borderline darker, though he holds that back. sometimes, something wild in him (Well, his roman breast plate) threatens to rise, and the others who notice this keep an eye on it.
