  1. Reprehensible, but not impeachable; morally treacherous, but not legally treasonous. What I find most infuriating is that Trump apparently thinks he did the right thing. That he thinks his job is to look confident no matter what, to give cheerleader happy talk no matter what. That only image matters, that only feelings of the moment matter. (Especially his own image.) And apparently it never occurred to him that useful things could be done to reduce the damage, beyond his pull-up-the-drawbridge reflex travel ban (which was already too late -- the virus was already here). A competent, responsible president would have quickly told the American people that they faced a great danger -- but here's what the government was doing to protect them, and here's what they could do individually to protect themselves and each other. It would be hard, but the American people had done hard things before and could do so again. Dean Shomshak

There could be another explanation... (courtesy of Alex Marino) [Trump walks into Oval Office alone. Shuts door. We hear a whoosh from off camera] TRUMP: I don’t get it Al, why haven’t I leaped!? AL: Stay at it, Sam. Ziggy says there’s a 95% chance you’re here to get this guy impeached. TRUMP: WHAT MORE COULD I POSSIBLY DO!?

  6. Criminals maybe a cowardly, superstitious lot, but Supervillains are often too many rats in the attic, bats in the belfry levels of crazy to really be afraid. Take one Subterranean Rex. A formerly respected scientist, he vanishes for three years, and returns ranting about a hollow world with dinosaurs , a perfect and pristine world, a 'pure' world. His peers pointed out there was a lot wrong with his statements, and where was his proof? Because, you know, scientists can be funny that way, liking evidence and what not. Well, to his credit, the guy had one thing to show off. in a demonstration of super strength (Not on my level mind), he threw a table at his dissenters, wounding three of them and nearly killing another, and ran out ranting how he'd show them. He'd show them all! And he was quickly put in the 'crazy partial' category, and the 'could someone please capture this loon before he injures other people' list? But neither the local heroes, nor the authorities could find him. They figured he went Underground. Boy Howdy, did he! When he appeared again, he was declaring himself Subterranean Rex! That he would recreate what he had seen, and the majestic creatures that had populated it. While his creations weren't REAL Dinosaurs, per se, they were deadly and they obeyed his commands. And he had gotten some pretty impressive technology constructed. There's something about Mad Scientists. Most Scientists are specialized, experts in their field, because there's just too many branches to science to master them all. Mad Scientists seem to have some edge, like they traded in their sanity for new areas of expertise. It's a good thing how this happens remains unknown, otherwise I know a lot of college students struggling with a double major that would take the deal. I had not expected the scepter to have that sort of power though. See, we had files on Rex. Pinprick had faced him before, as had Arctic Fox. I didn't have the pleasure before now, but I'd read the file. I'd also read Hussar's file. One shot should not have nearly taken Hussar out like that. "He's got an upgrade," I said on our communication link, "Hussar, you okay?" "I.. yeah, yeah," The breathing was heavy, "Give, give me a second." You don't have it. That's what I almost said. Instead, I bit down on it, and replied "We'll buy you time. Get up. Go catch Pterodactyls." That in mind, I zoomed in towards Subterranean Rex, arcing the hover cycle towards him into a dive. Damn it, I was going to get in trouble if I lost another vehicle but I had to close the gap and give him a new target. "Hey, nutjob!" I called out, "The Hollow world theory? It can't work. They've had superheroes, governments, and scientists alike search for it. Large tunnels and underground cities? Yes. Hollow core-less earth? NO." "I had tenure! That used to mean something! " He snarled and fired! Once again a rather nasty burst of energy launched forward, and macho as I am, I decided to try to avoid it. I hit the brakes, so to speak, leapt from the hover bike, then winced as the blast that narrowly missed me and made my hairs stand up on the back of my neck, totally vaporized the hoverbike. Yeah, I was going to get fussed at for that by Mabel when she found out. Sure, she had a real body now, but that had been one of her toys to tool around in before this. The upside? Not only had I dodged that energy, i slammed down hard on Subterranean Rex with a blow that knocked him flat on his ass. He groaned, "My children, help." "I don't think most of your pets can get up here and.." That was when I realized, in my efforts to look around for the big guys, I had neglected the little ones. And the little ones were already here. Breaking from cover behind the rooftop's AC vents, exhausts, and satellite dish came a dozen of little terrors that varied in size from medium chicken to small geese! "My Compsognathus Clutch will eat your liver, hero!" he boasted. They did not eat my liver. For that matter, they did not even break my skin. I've been cut open a lot in the last few years, by alien metals, mystic spears, and 'the strongest metal on earth' (Which seems to be handed off rather cavalierly in my opinion), enough so that I suppose it's understandable that folks think I'm not as resilient as it says on my job description. But honestly? I had less to fear from these things than your average person does being nibbled to death by Geese. That didn't make it any less startling. I got these nasty little creatures all over me, biting, snapping and scratching however ineffectively and I instinctively backed up trying to swat them one by one away from me. Then I found that I had almost stepped off the ledge. That would have been incredibly embarrassing. Regaining my composure, I prepared to slap my hands together as hard as possible, and shake these things off with the force of it. "I got you," Trailblazer's voice said. It wasn't just on the comm link either. I heard it. "Trailblazer!" Vaelrosa's voice called out too late "No!" Then? I was set on fire! It is gratifying to point out that the Jurassic Period dino-chickens fried before I did. I had, in the past, faced more than one flame throwing individual, and Traiblazer was not nearly the strongest. However, I had braced for most of those. At times I even had help from a certain cold wielding team mate to help me counteract the effects of said flame. This caught me off guard. And, in my defense, I think being swarmed by a dozen beagle sized dinosaurs only to get set on fire is something that would catch most folks off guard. There was a roar, reptilian screeching, and then sizzling sound and a smell not unlike grilled chicken all around me. And I stood there dazed, probably ashen, and confused. With Traiblazer looking absolutely mortified going "i'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" "Well," Subterranean Rex grinned as I wobbled on my feet, "I'm not sorry at all!" And his sceptre pointed at me as it built up another charge. I've had better days.

  11. I absolutely agree that Trump has behaved incompetently and irresponsibly. He clearly is not a leader. I also agree that he only values image, not substance. But Trump has shown he's a cheerleader for no one but himself. According to him, the country was in a terrible state before his arrival, and all the problems it still has or has gained are not his fault. His protest that he didn't want to cause panic over coronavirus rings hollow. He's more than happy to proclaim impending doom -- caravans of rapists and murderers from Latin America, "leftists" causing rampant lawless chaos, Democrats planning to dismantle the "American way of life" -- if he sees that to his advantage. Trump failed to deal with coronavirus because he didn't know what to do that would make himself look good. So he did nothing and looked for scapegoats, as always. And on that issue, I have never before seen and heard Beau of the Fifth Column display such full-on disgust and contempt.

  12. Sad indeed for an actress who was good on stage, television and cinema although she did not do many movies. The Avengers still holds up after 50 years and she was an inspiration to others. Emma Peel was a fighter and could be independent of Steed. She is a icon to cult and genre television vis The Avengers and Game of Thrones and also serious drama like Mother Courage on stage and an 80s version of Bleak House on the BBC. She was the best thing in the worst Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service and unlike other Bond girls had a career post the Bond movie. If you get the chance to see the movie The Assassination Bureau which also stars Oliver Reed and Telly Savalas, give it a watch. She was also in Theatre of Blood with Vincent Price. RIP

    RIP Dame Diana Rigg

The Queen of Thorns was a wonderful character and Dame Rigg was fantastic as her. Executive producer D. B. Weiss said of Rigg's final scene as Olenna, "What I love about the way she plays the scene is that even though you leave the scene knowing she’s soon going to be dead shortly after you cut to black you still feel like she won. She’s probably the only character to win her own death scene."-Wikipedia

  15. If he was interested in just preventing a (non stock market) panic, there's a million ways to acquire and push masks, and then encourage people to wear masks. Because of the nature of a growth of a pandemic, it would have been almost trivial to save a third of the lives lost so far, if not half. The literal 'anti mask movement' that exists in this country has been fanned by Trump and Fox. When I literally heard Trump on TV talking that this pandemic was a 'hoax' I thought it would be the literal death of his party. I can't understand politics in this country anymore. People can blame politicization, but Trump went above, beyond, and probably destroyed the economy of this country for a generation and ended more citizen's lives than any event in my entire lifetime. People are angry at a lockdown, and I agree making sure people don't end up homeless and starving is vital (and literally the responsibility of our government right now), but this lockdown would have been lightened months ago if the pandemic was treated appropriately. Yet people are blaming the situation on treating the pandemic as serious. It's the rationale of 'How dare you tell me to treat this minor cancer as something to be treated. Well, I ignored you and then put it off and now I have to get chemotherapy! Don't you dare tell me that I should treat it seriously, it's your fault its stage 3 now.'

Then Images to play it back with a Trigger so that it doesn't require the original user every time. or Clairsentience to Images with Transmit and Area of Effect. then Eidetic Memory only for the Images with a Trigger for repeated Playback.

    On Dispel and Focus's

Checking what I could of the Errata, there doesn't seem to be a statement in regard to cost of Unbreakable. Granted, given that it was stated above that Hero Designer includes a +1/4 for Unbreakable, I have to presume it was patched in somewhere, and simply forgotten. Source Below. As for the Logic in trying to take out someone Physical Armor? The short answer is because it felt thematically appropriate. The long answer is because of the feeling evoked and as a support ability. Some behemoth of a monster is bearing down on you, but you are protected, and you know that. You can fire away your (Blast, Telekinetic force, Laser Pistol, Gun) and stand your ground. And instead of knocking you away with their meaty hands, they instead... are trying to pry that armored shell free. They aren't trying to hit you, they are trying to get you. Suddenly you are left with only the protection of your flesh (and suitable powers) left as they wrench away that armored protection. Just you and the nightmare now. Mechanically? It's a reverse Aid. As a Metamorph Brick, it doesn't make sense to provide a bonus to others Blasts and such. That's not in the wheelhouse. But, a support sort of ability to make them deal more damage would still be appreciated. So, using overwhelming force to break apart an opponents armor means there isn't as much PD/ED in the way anymore and thus, regardless of the form of attack, more damage will be inflicted. Sure it might be more effective to simply hammer away with another attack, but I'm not talking what is effective. There are really easy ways to build effective but not interesting sorts of fights and designs. Not only that, but people are going to have... questions... when the monsterous hero instead of going for a knockout is trying to tear the Villian free of their suit of armor. Hero's don't do that. It provides some fun plot potential if taken with Bad/Questionable Reputation or similar.

    On Dispel and Focus's

Lacking Hero Designer myself, I will have to accept your word on that front. As listed on the Focus Table (Vol 1 6E, pg 380) all I am able to see is that Fragile offers an additional -1/4, and Durable imposes no change. Unbreakable, while mentioned in the text, does not appear, and does not indicate a cost in the text above. Given that is what I can see, I have based my assumptions upon such. And Ultimately, you are correct. Even if there is found a mechanically viable method for harming armor or disabling Foci, it is all set under the GM's discretion. I may feel that preventing such is limiting in choices for the players, but if it is to better focus their efforts towards the story and game design that the GM is more comfortable writing and offering, then so be it. The goal is to enjoy the game and tell a fun story. Creating, designing, and utilizing tools that do not help in that end... well... by definition, it's not fun.

  33. Thanks for the shoutout! As the guy what wrote it, probably not. Many years ago in a Fantasy Hero game, I played a ki-rin (or more accurately, myself transformed into a ki-rin, in a fantasy world). The GM, who wrote up all of our transformed versions, gave me PS: Magic Steed, with the idea that I'd be able to use that as a complementary skill in order to help someone (with Riding skill) stay on my back. Probably not quite what you're looking for for an Autobot type character. The Resistant Protection Power includes a +10 point Adder: Protects Carried Items, which can explicitly include other characters. That might be what you're looking for. (6e1 p. 276 or CC p. 83) Edit to add: Clinging, if you want them to just be attached to the side of you, or effectively seatbelted in place inside your Resistant Protection.

  34. I understand it's not the answer you are looking for, but STR is the answer. How many people can Superman carry? As many as he can hold, maybe one in each hand and two piggyback. How many people can Giganto carry? Six fit in the palm of his hand, no problem. It's a matter of STR and size. STR because-- well, being able to move staggering weight is why you buy that. It is limited by how much you can physically grab or hold. A Trnsformer is pretty big; plenty big enough to cayy at least one person, and the biggee they are, the more they can carry. Really the only difference between them and a giant human character is that a giant human isn't inclined to carry someone in his lung. If that's not enough for the feel that you want, then look at how you are designing his "car powers." the answer may lie there: Are you doing a multiform? Are you building it as a vehicle? What are your campaign rules for building vehicles? How do you determine how many people can fit in a car with your vehicle rules? What makes the car firm of a giant robot different from any other car in your campaign? Do those differences affect how people are carried? I think looking at it that way will help you find an answer that works for you. While it's nigh-anathema to say on this board, not everything needs a special costs-extra build.

  39. https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/515396-colorado-school-suspends-12-year-old-called-police-for-welfare A twelve year old seventh-grader with ADHD is learning at home in a virtual classroom. He owns a very obviously plastic toy gun with a green barrel and orange tip with the words "Zombie Killer" printed on it in large white lettering. At one point during the school day, he picks up his toy, fiddles around with it, and the toy is visible onscreen momentarily. The teacher sees the toy gun and notifies the principle. The school had been secretly recording classrooms and caught the incident on video. Rather than looking at the video and dealing with the matter internally or contacting the parents, the principle notifies the police. (In the police report, the teacher is quoted as saying that she assumed it was a toy gun but was not certain. In the video which the parents eventually got to see, the green barreled and orange tipped gun with the words on the side is visible. The school refuses to give a copy of the tape to the parents or the media.) Anyway, back to the story. The principle requests that the police go to the student's home and check out the student's home environment. The police go to the kid's home and the parents find out about the "incident" from the police rather than the school. The police threaten the student with arrest as if he had shown up to the school with a gun (real or fake) and threatened to shoot people. The school suspended the student for five days. Okay, everyone still with me? So far, so good? The kid and his family are black. The school admits no wrong-doing and insist that the handling of the incident had nothing to do with the student's race or the fact that the kid is more of a pain in the butt than most because he has ADHD (which doesn't make him an easy student to teach in a distance-learning environment). The school has also announced that it would no longer be secretly or openly recording classes, also without admitting that the secretly taping classrooms was in any way inappropriate. I am highly skeptical that discrimination had absolutely no role in what happened. At the very least, the parents are moving the kid to a different school district. That's something the school would know would happen if they harassed the family. That particular school and the district in general won't have that student dragging down standardized test scores and won't have to put up with a kid who has ADHD. I've got a niece and nephew live in Colorado within 20 miles of this school district. He's a teacher who has taught in several school districts in that area over the last 16 years. My niece is Hispanic. They have three kids of their own and two Hispanic foster kids. One of their kids is a high IQ ADHD problem student. One of the foster kids has severe behavioral issues but my family hasn't won the fights necessary to get the school district to test and diagnose exactly what that girl's problem is and the foster system apparently won't pay for that kind of testing. Colorado doesn't seem to have many state laws, at least which are enforced, which make school districts attempt to give problem students a decent education. Their family has had to fight like hell and switch schools and school districts several times in order to find a school which will attempt to deal with educating their problem kid (and that with my nephew often being a teacher in that school district) and has had to repeat those fights to get their foster girl educated. Their kids have also faced discrimination and bigotry for being Hispanic (sometimes from other students and sometimes more subtly from teachers and administration). I guess I'm just frustrated. The school calling the police to go harass a black family in THIS environment? And harassing that black family's kid who has a neurological disorder? Like HELL the school district isn't treating this kid differently because he's black and has ADHD. Where's my "really ticked off" emoji?
