  1. 6V system. Using a vintage high zinc, low detergent oil in it (strongly recommended for cars of that age). No hexagonal cells. Throttle on the steering wheel, along with the spark timer lever...though there's also a foot throttle (not so much a pedal as a small nub).
  2. It does! The only storage in the thing (other than the bed) is two compartments beneath the seat
  3. So...my "other COVID project" has been restoring an old truck that my dad purchased back in 1984. A 1925 International Harvester Model S Speed Truck, to be precise. All original, but in need of a LOT of love and attention. Replaced the carburetor with a non-original but same era Stromberg SF-1 -- vastly more reliable than the original, which was renowned for cracking and leaking (which it had on multiple occasions). Relined and restored the brakes, retuning all of the mechanical linkages. This was easily the biggest of the jobs we had to perform -- a crazy amount involved there. Re-wired the entirety of the electric system, including the mains (with era-appropriate wiring) Fixed and remounted the lights and connection assemblies. Replaced the generator cut-out (and was thrilled to find that the original generator was still perfectly functional) Replaced all oil and lubricant with era-appropriate formulae. Degreased (or at least began the long process of degreasing) the undercarriage. Restored the dials and gauges in the cabin (in the process of re-wiring)...and found the original ignition key. And got plates put onto it for the first time today, so it's officially road-legal. Not an easy process in that I had to apply for a title in order to get the plates....the title my dad had gotten back in the 80's had completely incorrect information (1918 model year rather than 1925...wrong serial number/VIN - they had for some reason used the model number from the engine...etc). Took it out for a 10 mile drive with multiple hills -- handled it like a champ. IMG_2238.mov So that's one project done....except for the cosmetics. It's supposed to be a Red Baby -- found ample proof to support that as we worked through the restoration. The re-paint to original will come in the next year or so...apart from the lettering (which I have the original schematics for), it'll be more or less like this: So...that's been my past year of side project. I now return you to your regularly scheduled gaming forum
  4. File -> Preferences -> Display tab -> Display Active Points on abilities (by default) Note that will not affect existing abilities -- those will have whatever setting you saved them with.
  5. Yeah...print to PDF was removed some time ago due to compatibility constraints (dated libraries which wouldn't work with current versions of Java or HD's code). You can (as you know) run HD6 and HD3 (or other versions) alongside of each other, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend running older/outdated versions of Java on your system (or, at least, a system that you care particularly about). Other than that, pick an export format that you like in HD6 and use the PDF print functionality in the viewer of your choice for that format (browser, Word, etc.).
  6. For Flash Defense, the only option you have is the IF_DEFENSE container within an export. For Active Points, there's a checkbox that determines whether or not to display the Active Points for a given Power once Modifiers are applied (making Active Points potentially different from the base cost of the ability)
  7. If you're talking about the Default Print Template, it's unpacked from the .zip download into the same directory as HD6.jar Also available in the Downloads section (along with many others).
  8. Officially? No -- Characteristic Powers are not Characteristics. That said, any such purchase should be looked at closely by the GM to ensure that it's not simply attempting to avoid the Characteristic Maxima.
  9. That’s how Matching Complications work. I suspect you’re thinking about 5E Disadvantages, which don’t apply to 6E.
  10. OK...bit more research on this: Multiform was introduced in 4E. While it doesn't have the explicit statements about only the base form paying for Multiform, that rule is still in place. Couple this with repeated statements throughout the writeup for Multiform that additional forms can have a maximum number of total points equal to the total points in the base form minus the cost of Multiform. For clarity: the above is 4E rules, which do differ from 5E and 6E, but are the same in that Multiform is only paid for once by the base/true form.
  11. I don't think any edition has required that. 5ER has similarly explicit statements to what Lonewolf posted from 6th....and IIRC, that didn't change much from 4th and earlier.
  12. Character packs are listed throughout the store, generally alongside the books that they are associated with.
  13. Try the Skill Multipliers menu (on the Skills tab) and the Perk Enhancers menu (on the Perks tab)
  14. You purchased HD on the old site software (we changed to the current software at the end of 2013) -- no purchase history was carried over from the old software to the new, only the forums made the transition. When you bought HD, it was being sold under a support contract model, where you would get updates for 2 years before having to renew your support contract (yours has LONG since expired). When we switched to the new site software, we changed to a straight sales model -- purchasing HD will give you access to all updates released for that major version (there are no current plans for a major version upgrade). The cost to purchase HD was (intentionally) kept the same as the previous cost to renew your support contract ($25).
  15. Likely clarified in either the Rules Questions forum or in other conversations outside of the forums.
  16. Incorrect - HD is allowing Linked in accordance with the rules (in particular with Steve Long's clarifications over time). Adhering to the rules for Linked and Power Frameworks was one of Steve's main requests with HD and a particular focus during development.
  17. Yup. Taken some care to ensure backwards compatibility over the years.
  18. There have been more updates and upgrades to the software since v3 than can be listed. You're talking about _years_ of updates...akin to asking what the differences are between Windows 95 and Windows 11.
  19. It’s done that way in HD because that is how the rules of the system work - Frameworks have a base cost, an Active Cost, and a Real Cost just like everything else.
  20. More or less what unclevlad said...but with a bit more emphasis on the number of dialogs that would need to be changed...along with specific checks/flags for whether or not you're building an ability for a VPP (at least, currently). And if HD were to be modified to do all of that, it would likely annoy more people than it would please as they would now have to change their expectations of what the Real Cost value represents in the edit dialog when they're working on a Power that will be placed inside of a VPP. So, in answer to the original question: no.
  21. So HD should calculate Active Points for VPPs in a manner different from the rest of the HERO System abilities in order to better accommodate your interpretation of campaign AP limits (which, as mentioned, are not part of HERO System rules)? They shouldn't be based on the cost of the ability in question before Limitations are applied?
  22. Moving this to the discussion forum as the Rules Questions answer is simply that HD is correct in how the Active Points of a VPP are calculated. In terms of design philosophy or actually answering your question, it's more of a discussion. To start, a VPP allows for massively increased flexibility for the character, so having the same AP cap on the actual slots in the VPP as the other players have on their non-VPP Powers would make the VPP character overpowered in comparison. Having the VPP itself (pool + control) face the same AP limit as other characters _and_ the individual slots having the same AP limit keeps the character roughly in-line with the power limits of the campaign...at least as much as AP limits allow.
  23. HD's calculation is correct as you're only applying OAF to the Reserve itself (and not the REC). Modifiers are applied to the Reserve and the REC independently. Apply OAF to both the Reserve and the REC and HD will show it at 15 points.
  24. Within HD's export format functionality you'd mainly be looking at START, STOP, and STEP containers to break things up, but that can get tricky when you don't know the number of items you'll be dealing with going in.
  25. 1. You have HD set to remember the size and position of dialogs (the default preference setting) 2. You have positioned the Skill dialog off of the current screen (likely on a different system/setup) Delete the appPrefs.xml file and start HD again.
