Re: Do you consider Batman to be a Gadgetee or something else?
He's a gadgeteering detective. It kind of morphs together.
Of course, the last few years, he's also super-martial artist.

Re: Star Hero 6E?
The 6e book is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Re: 6th edition
I have to dispute this. There is justice in saying that 6th edition takes two books to do what 5th edition did in one, but not in claiming it takes THREE. The Advanced Player's Guide does not, in my opinion, really correspond to anything in 5th edition and is just what it's title implies, a lot of optional add-ons or suggested variants. It has things like the Possession Power (combining aspects of Mind Control, Telepathy, etc) that aren't in 5th edition at all.
Except that the Champions book references the APG, and kind of assumes you have it. Which was a dumb mistake, IMO.

Re: Star Trek Online gets Free To Play at 17. January 2012
If they gave some bennies to previous subscribers, I'd be more interested. As is, I'm not going to bother.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
Finally saw X-Men: First Class over the holidays. It was very good. I think it's probably better than the original trilogy.

Re: A Thread for Random Videos
Danny Kaye was awesome. Note the young Angela Lansbury, as well.

Re: Changes at Hero
Sad news . I hope everything works out for everyone.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I rewatched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It was much better than I remember. I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters. Of course, I've read a lot more pulp since then. The movie really does hit on most of the pulp tropes, even the sorta fuzzy sepia tone similar to everything to some early films.

Re: A Thread for Random Videos
Amanda Palmer is awesome! And she married Neil Gaiman, the lucky bastard.

Re: 80's Champions
Stuff I remember from the 80's:
Ronald Reagan
Gorbachev
"You're momma!"
"Psyche!"
GI Joe.
He-Man.
Thundercats.
Parachute Pants.
Japanese flag headbands.
Big hair.
D&D was sorta cool still.
Jamboxes.
Beatbox
Breakdancing.
Prince and the Revolution
Madonna
Def Leppard
Genesis
Van Halen
Guns n Roses
Motley Crue
Metallica
Cigarettes and chew were legal. Guys chewed in school, just weren't allowed to smoke.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I watched the first two episodes of "Once Upon a Time". GREAT SHOW. I highly recommend it!

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
Dracula - Bela Lugosi version. I've never seen this movie before. It's really good.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I watched The Shining again last night. Still my favorite horror movie of all time. Jack's slow descent into madness is great, and the poor kid's random encounters with ghosts were freaky. Shelley Duvall's trying to deal with everything makes me feel bad for her. She ends up being stronger and more resourceful than she appears at first glance.
I love how the old black cook also has the shining and comes to save the day, but gets an ax in his chest before he even knows what's really going on. Talk about smashing expectations of the viewer! Kubrick handled it amazingly well. Scatman Crothers was very likable and I always want him to succeed, even though I know what's coming.
The scenes where Jack talks to the bartender and the previous caretaker are also really creepy. And the final shot of the 1921 photo is a perfect ending.

Re: Hero System 101: Comments sought
Not to put a damper on what could be a very cool project' date=' but you'll want to take some care about how much detail you get into lest you essentially give away the product.[/quote']Seriously? That's what you come up with?
He's not giving the powers list or anything else...

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?
I watched Paranormal Activity earlier tonight. I liked it. They did a great job considering how tiny the budget was. It was pretty creepy, though nowhere near as scary as The Grudge or The Ring. If I was 12, I'd be terrified to go to bed.

Re: A Thread for Random Videos
I think it's funny that people still use IE.

Re: The Walker - a very low powered superhero
Several police reports where people were charged with wearing them, after being busted during a crime. Maybe they were already felons, as that is listed as illegal. Or maybe it's something like wearing one while engaging in a crime. There's lots and lots of little gotchas with city laws.

Re: The Walker - a very low powered superhero
Cool character. One thing to keep in mind is that bulletproof vests are illegal in many cities. Only cops are allowed to have them. This might not affect your game, but it's a consideration for points or a problem while dealing with cops.

Re: Why do tails cost points?
Thanks. I saw the limited use and thought it meant the tails were not available for attacks.
-
I noticed that cat men and lizard men have to pay points for their tails. Unless I'm missing something, their tails don't do anything. Why pay points for something that is cosmetic?

Re: A REAL reboot of the JL
I get it too, which is one of the reasons I like it. His art style is also really cool.

Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game
That doesn't work, at least on my computer. It will save everything except keymaps.

Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?
I suspect one of the big hurdles HG is facing is that many 5e books are still in stores, covering every possible need players have. And I personally know several people who are sticking with 5e, in any case. Hero is competing with itself. Not to mention Mutants & Masterminds, BASH, ICONS, etc. All games it didn't have to worry about when 5e came out.
