  1. Re: 6th edition

    I have to dispute this.

There is justice in saying that 6th edition takes two books to do what 5th edition did in one, but not in claiming it takes THREE. The Advanced Player's Guide does not, in my opinion, really correspond to anything in 5th edition and is just what it's title implies, a lot of optional add-ons or suggested variants. It has things like the Possession Power (combining aspects of Mind Control, Telepathy, etc) that aren't in 5th edition at all.

Except that the Champions book references the APG, and kind of assumes you have it. Which was a dumb mistake, IMO.

  2. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

I rewatched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It was much better than I remember. I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters. Of course, I've read a lot more pulp since then. The movie really does hit on most of the pulp tropes, even the sorta fuzzy sepia tone similar to everything to some early films.

  3. Re: 80's Champions

Stuff I remember from the 80's:

    Ronald Reagan

    Gorbachev

    "You're momma!"

    "Psyche!"

    GI Joe.

    He-Man.

    Thundercats.

    Parachute Pants.

    Japanese flag headbands.

    Big hair.

    D&D was sorta cool still.

    Jamboxes.

    Beatbox

    Breakdancing.

    Prince and the Revolution

    Madonna

    Def Leppard

    Genesis

    Van Halen

    Guns n Roses

    Motley Crue

    Metallica

Cigarettes and chew were legal. Guys chewed in school, just weren't allowed to smoke.

I watched The Shining again last night. Still my favorite horror movie of all time. Jack's slow descent into madness is great, and the poor kid's random encounters with ghosts were freaky. Shelley Duvall's trying to deal with everything makes me feel bad for her. She ends up being stronger and more resourceful than she appears at first glance.

I love how the old black cook also has the shining and comes to save the day, but gets an ax in his chest before he even knows what's really going on. Talk about smashing expectations of the viewer! Kubrick handled it amazingly well. Scatman Crothers was very likable and I always want him to succeed, even though I know what's coming.

The scenes where Jack talks to the bartender and the previous caretaker are also really creepy. And the final shot of the 1921 photo is a perfect ending.

Not to put a damper on what could be a very cool project' date=' but you'll want to take some care about how much detail you get into lest you essentially give away the product.[/quote']

Seriously? That's what you come up with?

He's not giving the powers list or anything else...

  6. Re: The Walker - a very low powered superhero

Several police reports where people were charged with wearing them, after being busted during a crime. Maybe they were already felons, as that is listed as illegal. Or maybe it's something like wearing one while engaging in a crime. There's lots and lots of little gotchas with city laws.

  7. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?

I suspect one of the big hurdles HG is facing is that many 5e books are still in stores, covering every possible need players have. And I personally know several people who are sticking with 5e, in any case. Hero is competing with itself. Not to mention Mutants & Masterminds, BASH, ICONS, etc. All games it didn't have to worry about when 5e came out.
