  1. The more harmless looking a villain is the deadlier they actually are.
  2. Here’s a question for you: How do you defeat a villain that has abusive Blocking, Deflecting or Reflecting abilities? I’m talking about being effectively invulnerable by always stopping incoming attacks, ranged or hand-to-hand, by turning the rules into a GM-approved pretzel. For example: super high OCV (bonuses to block / deflect), maybe built on a trigger with extra Speed for it, AOE, etc. so the villain can still attack, or protect teammates who can, etc. Just wondering! ?
  3. I know that Blocking, Deflecting or Reflecting Area of Effect Attacks doesn’t work, but does that also apply to explosions? How do you defeat a villain that has abusive Blocking, Deflecting or Reflecting abilities? ?
  4. The Growth table just goes to 125m tall ("Colossal" size). I'd like to build a character that gets even bigger than that (a lot bigger). How should that be built? Thanks!
  5. I'm reposting the (slightly updated) concept: New Advantage: Unstoppable +1/4 The Unstoppable advantage makes an attack that cannot be stopped by abilities such as block, missile deflection, or reflection. Any attempt to block, deflect, etc. automatically fails and cannot stop an attack bought as Unstoppable. The target will not know that this is the case until such an attempt fails. A successful to-hit roll still has to be made against the target’s DCV (or MDCV with a mental attack). This advantage does not effect the OCV or DCV of the attacker or defender and all damage is applied normally. Example: Mega Zap Man fires his Blast with the Unstoppable advantage at Deflection Man. Defection Man tries to use his Missile Deflection to stop the attack, but since it has the Unstoppable advantage, the attempt automatically fails. Mega Zap Man then rolls to hit with the Blast and hits Deflection Man’s DCV. The damage of the attack is then applied to Defection Man’s Energy Defense as normal.
  6. It doesn't effect dive for cover (never even mentioned that). It doesn't make the attack AOE either. The ONLY thing it does is stop a block or missile deflect / reflect from working. If you dodge and don't get hit, you don't get hit.
  7. Um... I think you completely misread the advantage description! All it does is not allow block or deflection/reflection to be used. It doesn't make the attack NND, all defenses are applied as normal. The to-hit roll is the same as normal as well. Typically, against characters without missile deflection, this advantage is useless.
  8. I'd like to get some input on a few House Rules ideas I have, starting with a new advantage: Unstoppable +1/4 The Unstoppable advantage makes an attack that cannot be stopped by any means after a successful to-hit roll has been made. Abilities such as block, missile deflection/reflection, etc. cannot stop an attack bought as Unstoppable. This advantage does not effect the OCV or DCV of the attacker or defender and all damage is applied normally. Example: Mega Zap Man fires his Blast with the Unstoppable advantage at Deflection Man. Mega Zap Man hits Deflection Man’s DCV with the attack. Defection Man tries to use his Missile Deflection to stop the attack, but since it has the Unstoppable advantage, the attempt fails and the damage of the Blast is applied to Defection Man’s Energy Defense as normal. This one wouldn't come up very often, but it would ruin the day of a PC that relies on Missile Deflection as their defense!
  9. But Krampus is a good guy! He punishes evil! Young evil, but evil nonetheless!

    RWBY Game

I'm thinking of running a game set in the RWBY universe (the world of Remnant) or some variant there of and was wondering if anyone else has done so already. I'm curious to see how other GMs handle things like Aura, Semblance use, etc. as well as write ups for characters. I'll post what I come up with as well, but it probably won't be for a few months due to work and other projects. If you don't know what RWBY is, shame on you! A quick Googling will tell you all you need to know. If you like anime (or just animation in general) you will probably like RWBY.
  11. How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? It's just my name! What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Dr. Who What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Champions What are you currently playing/GMing? Champions and some other games, all using Hero System

    Overwatch

The Overwatch characters seem to be basically superheroes and villains. Has anyone tried to make Hero system stats for them? Someone like Tracer would fit right into a Superhero team! How would you build her "Recall" power? Base it on the "Replay" power form the APG 2?
  13. Excellent, I'm really interested in this book. I was in on the original Kickstarter for it, looking forward to supporting it again.
  14. That inconsistency is very inconsistent!
  15. In my game group, we have people miss hexes from time-to-time (we joke that the hex 'dodged'). I understand what it's supposed to simulate (you can miss in targeting a certain location) and that's fine, but I do agree that DCV 3 is too high. A normal has an OCV of 3, so they only have a 50% chance of hitting the ground directly in front of them? Really? It's one of those things in Hero that's just silly.
  16. How would you make Bending Powers like in the Avatar series (Last Airbender and Legend of Korra) in Hero 6th edition? Chi-Blocking and Spiritual Powers too. I'm starting to come up with ideas for this myself, but want to see other GMs take on it. I'm thinking all such abilities would be pre-made (to enforce genre) and the players would pick what they want for their PC. The whole universe has a super-hero feel to it, but with very specific powers that work in specific ways. Any design help is welcome!
  17. But V'han is the hero come to liberate Earth, the PCs are just unwitting pawns of evil, oppressive governments that want to stay in power at any cost.
  18. Come to think of it, she probably would! She is sanity challenged!
  19. She is young and very naughty, I've always thought that it would be funny if her father (Dr. Arcane) went and spanked her for being such a bad girl. That would be an unexpected way of dealing with a villain, she gets punished and sent to her room without dinner!
  20. I did the same, it was actually a stated option in the Coriolis Effect. I think she would need even more revising for 6th edition to be a challenge these days.
  21. The Black Enchantress was the main villain from the classic adventure "The Coriolis Effect". It came out in 1986, so the Black Enchantress was a 3rd edition Champions character. I'd like to see a 6th edition version of her, fleshed out as she should be (the original stats were very sparse). There is more than one way to write up the Black Enchantress, so I'd like to see what ideas the gurus here can come up with! The comic book version of the character (from the Heroic Publishing comics) would be interesting as well (even if you don't like them).
  22. My Hero Designer isn't working after an update to the latest JRE (came out on the 19th I believe). Has anyone else experienced this issue? Reinstalling HD, etc. does not help. Thanks, Keith
  23. OK, I know this failed on Kickstarter previously, but there have been SIX Hero System projects in a row that have successfully funded through Kickstarter. I really want to see this book made, and I think a Kickstarter for it should be tried again.
  24. Re: MYTHIC HERO Kickstarter Don't worry, it will be successful! I chipped in for the $75 level. You can look forward to ~4 months of paid geek-out working on it!
