  1. Re: THE BOOK OF THE EMPRESS -- What Do *You* Want To See? I'd like to see some details about her origin and even her childhood. Who is she as a person? Any good bad guy is three (or more) dimensional, not a cardboard cut out. I want depth to the character as a person, not just a villain. Note: I consider Dr. Destroyer and Mechanon to be a prime examples of cardboard cut out villains. They have as much personality as a doorknob. If you are doing a whole book on her, I want far more than a generic megalomaniac. I know a lot of others will disagree and think Dr. Destroyer and Mechanon are great, but their personalities don't seem any more complex than a spoiled 4 year old to me. If someone rules as vast an empire as she does, there has to be much more to them than that. Also, she's a woman, so she should have more depth to her persona than any guy (Mechanon counts as a guy !
  2. Re: 6e Characteristics One thing I see, characteristics are now much more expensive (effectively). They were not really as efficient as a power based character in 5th edition, but under 6th they look impractical. Just buy powers and skills, the character will be much more powerful (for the points) than a characteristic based character. I think point balance will be seriously messed up in 6th edition.
  3. Re: Naming the baby I have a name for it: VISTA! Seriously, I think we'll see a 6th Edition Revised announced within 6 moths of the release of 6th Edition! So much is being changed, it's inevitable!
  4. Re: Restricting Aspects of Character Creation Here's another sitch (one I've had to deal with): The player builds a character that is significantly weaker than the others, and even thought the GM tells the player to beef up his PC, he insists he likes it that way. His PC doesn't do as well as the others (even though the GM goes a bit easy on it) and the player complains he can't do much. The GM again says to beef it up, but the player doesn't do much to do so. How do you handle that?
  5. Re: Restricting Aspects of Character Creation OK, another sitch: The player agrees to all that, but then bullies all the other PCs and starts doing half again more than the DC maximum in the game (just saying that he can). What would you as the GM do?
  6. Re: what books should I buy next? The Ultimate Martial Artist is quite good. I'd also pick up others from the Ultimates line that fit what you are interested in. I've found The Ultimate Metamorph to be quite useful (it covers far more than just shape shifters).
  7. Re: Star Wars Jedi (and light sabers) I'd like to see the Jedi's and Light Saber's stats whether he pays for it or not. Since I want the Light Saber write up included, for arguments sake let's say it's Super-Heroic. Thanks!
  8. I know this has been addressed here (and there) in the past but I've never been quite satisfied with what I've seen before for a character design of a Star Wars Jedi (light saber and all). I've noticed that their portrayal has changed over time. Look at how Darth Vader and Obi Wan are in Star Wars vs. what you see in Clone Wars. IMHO, the latter is closer to Lucas' vision of what they are like (CG has no real-world limitations imposed by non-Jedi actors). So, please post your renditions of Jedi and their light sabers.
  9. Re: Book or PDF PDFs are OK, but they don't replace paper books for me! I don't read in the bathroom but I do tend to have a pile of hero books on the coffee and/or game tables. (much to my wife's dismay, she's a neat-freak!)
  10. Re: Killing Attacks vs Stun Lottery I use a 1/2 D6 + 1 stun multiplier for all killing attacks in my games. It has worked very well for several years.
  11. Re: Restricting Aspects of Character Creation Nice ideas here. Here is something to think about: You are setting up a superhero game, and you want to have things balanced of course. But, one of your players is rules raper/lawyer and another player is a mega-munchkin. Do you use character creation restrictions to reign them in? If so, how do you implement such limitations? -Keith
  12. Re: THE ULTIMATE BASE -- What Do *You* Want To See? True, but they should be included. I deliberately put things like hallways, closets, and yes, bathrooms in all my base floor plans. I think it is fun to include such details. -Keith
