  1. Re: Captain Nebula I wonder if you've ever written popular fiction. You're certainly good enough- your writing is not at all annoying, even before you remove all the adjectives, and your name would look good on a dustjacket. Which is approximately 90% of what you need to be a popular fiction writer. Certainly leaves me wanting about three to nine more pages.
  2. Re: Splice He's fun! But, why Dex 17 and not the break at 18? And, it seems like even though the high-end DR would be sucking END, it's still cheap. But that's a nitpick.
  3. Re: Pointless Hero As it is in any 'artistic' endeavor- art, letters, and building hero system playing pieces, you have to know the rules before you break the rules. This sounds to me to be a great idea for a group of ecperienced players who know what they're giving up and whether they are giving anything up at all. And, once everyone agrees that no, they're not giving anything up, then there's no problem. But, if just one player feels like he's being 'cheated' because he disagrees with the feeling of 'rightness' or 'balance', or that he does not understand why one pile of 280 points is equivalent to another pile of 350 points, then resentment and hurt feelings will rule the day and drive the game into the garbage. So, it sounds to me like those who have had good experience with this are playing with experienced groups with similar sensabilities- that you are all on the same page to begin with. And if you are, then no problem. In my AD&D 3.x campaign, we have a level 8, two level 10s, and a level 11. And it works out just fine that way, since we understand how we got there, and who can do what, and we don't step on each other. Albeit not an exact analogue to the description you make, Sean, but the underlying concept is the same: we understand we're unequal rfom one standpoint, but equal from another.
  4. Re: 275 point Mystic Hero: Dr. Phantasim I loves me some fisticuffs. Makes me think of the Notre Dame mascot.
  5. Re: 275 point Patriot: The Sentinel Maybe if you explain the criterion for that decision? I think it's really good as-is. Making it smaller means his weaponry won't be as good, obviously, and this guy needs to manufacture offense.
  6. Re: 275 point Mystic Hero: Dr. Phantasim I think you need to add Range to your Detect Magic in order for it to do what you want it to do. But I could be wrong.
  7. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Mrs. Split Decision would gladly give up her broomstick for gravity-defying breasts.
  8. Re: How much Megascale to cover the world MUST SPREAD REP... rofl The English are funny in so many ways
  9. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Super Leader?
  10. Re: How much Megascale to cover the world You must be trying to build Swinging
  11. Re: Broad Spectrum Absorption That's pretty cheap for 1d6 of Omni-Absorption, isn't it?
  12. Re: 275 Point Project Psi: Midnight I think I see what you are trying to get at here: 20 3) Retrocognitive, Precognitive Clairsentience (Sight Group And Normal Hearing), MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4) (81 Active Points); NCC (-2), Blackout (-1/2), Requires an attuned object (-1/4), Sense Affected As Mental sense group (-1/4) The precog part power is probably unnecessary. The retrocog ought to be limited by time and vague and unclear instead of NCC (-2). Maybe NCC (-1, can turn it on but no control over what info), Vague and Unclear (-1/2), Time Chart Limitations (-1/2). That way it's the same cost for the retrocog but you have a little more control over it: Retrocognitive Clairsentience (Sight Group And Normal Hearing), MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4), NCC (-1, can activate but no choice over what he sees), Blackout (-1/2), Requires an attuned object (-1/4), Sense Affected As Mental sense group (-1/4), Vague and Unclear (-1/2), Time Chart Limitations (-1/2) Active: 62. Real: 15. END: 6 Assume that the GM will be able to drop hints based upon the other Clairsentience powers and handwave the precog. And does he actually pull a motorcycle out of his utility belt? That would be AWE-SOME
  13. Re: Randy Orton MITB was really innovative- reminded me of TLC I. OK this is officially threadjacking. Randy Orton: any writeups?
  14. Re: Foxbatmite The greatest ever. Ever. I mean it.
  15. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if...
  16. Re: Randy Orton It's nice that HHH finally gets to finish Wrestlemania holding the gold as the curtain falls... but it was a disservice to Undertaker and Shawn Michaels
  17. Re: Randy Orton He lost! He lost! Randy Orton jobbed to Triple H! Haw. Taker-Michaels was an all-time classic.
  18. Re: Help with gear If they could use 12d6 EBs and shoot straight, then you wouldn't need superheroes.
  19. Re: 275 point Patriot: The Sentinel I'm thinking that the two MPs, one for the main weapon (OAF) and one for the ancillary gear (OIF: Collection of OAFs and OIFs), is the way to go.
  20. Re: Heroes from All Fifty States wow that is amazing. They look soooo good!
  21. Re: The fall of your character For Boomtown Brawler, I guarantee there's a woman involved. Not that he's particularly interested in women. He's more incurious about them. He is an adult in most ways, but there's something missing from his emotional toolbox that prevents him from forming romantic relationships. While it's not in his list of Disadvantages nor in his official backstory, I know in my own heart that when a woman is able to break through to him and he gains the insight into what it means to have romantic love, that'll be the day that he dies. Either that, or being burned alive somehow in rocket exhaust, say, or thrown into a volcano.
  22. Re: Captain America and Cast I tire of this project. I will continue it at some point in the future. Thank you for your attention. Be sure to look for some upcoming threads on different topics, probably not from existing source material.
  23. Re: Patriotic Equipment How about... a kite with a brass key that electrocutes the bad guy?
  24. Re: Randy Orton Randu Orton's schtick on the television show is that he pulls oldsters out of retirement, and then ends their career for a second time. You might think that it's lame, but wait until you see how truly lame it is. Everytime he puts a boot upside a septegenarian's head... well... it makes me long for the days when they stuck to merely beating the female wrestlers with chairs. At least the female wrestlers are in shape for stuntwork.
  25. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I like both 1 and 2 from the second set!
