  1. Re: A Marvel-ous Suicide Squad? Protocide has too much untouched potential to just not be used since his original appearance. I'm still hoping he might show up in Thunderbolts one day, but I don't think the story that introduced him was popular. He's literally made no appearances since then and probably isn't well known outside of long-time Captain America readers. I could see John Walker becoming a Waller-type figure given his current direction. The only reason he hasn't gotten any cybernetic limbs is because after meeting and fighting Nuke, he's terrified that he could turn into that eventually.
  2. Re: Would your Hero endorse a politician? In there Heroic Identities, none of my characters would publicly endorse a candidate for any elected office as none of them want to go down that road. In their private identities however, some of them might do some public endorsements. Vanguard runs a technology firm that specializes in futurists technology and would probably try to get close relations with a few Congressmen. The only exception to this would be if a Lex Luthor or Norman Osborn style character was running for public office. In which case most of them would try to turn public opinion against them. (For example, if any of my characters were in the Marvel Universe during Dark Reign most if not all of them would have only referred to Osborn as "the Green Goblin" whenever a camera was around.)
  3. Re: A Marvel-ous Suicide Squad? Hm, using currently alive / powered characters this is what I would go with: Henry Peter Gyrich - Director of the program and loyal patriot with a questionable past. Could easily become an Amanda Waller character if given decent character development. Quasimodo - Adviser to Gyrich and provides team recommendations and analysis of targets. Protocide (Clinton McIntyre) - Early super-soldier, the "prototype" for Captain America. He died after ingesting the super-soldier serum and was preserved. His body was later recovered and revived by A.I.M. and he fought both Captain America and U.S. Agent. After realizing he was manipulated by A.I.M. He disappeared. He can become the Rick Flag of the team and could also be seeking redemption as well. Considering the injuries that John Walker has recently received, he could also become U.S. Agent II. Awesome Android - He's the main muscle of the team and the most expendable. Has the capacity for learning and developing its own personality (which it did during a She-Hulk series, though his personality was later erased by the Mad Thinker). Black Queen (Emma Steed) - She was the Black Queen of the London Hellfire Club. In her first appearance she battled Captain Britain during Excalibur's run, vanishing afterwords. What she's done since then and how she ends up on the team is up the you. Her powers are an immunity to telepathy (very useful) and the ability to create psionic weapons. Lady Bullseye - Since Bullseye himself is dead, she's an excellent fill-in. She was trained by Daredevil's master, Izo, is a Hand assassin, and is also a lawyer. She is apparently faster than Bullseye and lacks a sent when in costume. The Russian - Supposedly killed on Grand Nixon Island, but he was killed before too. He's the most light hearted, and most ruthless, member of the team. While he's useless for stealth missions, when the shit hits the fan he's the one you want drawing enemy fire. Empath - Aside from a few brief periods, Empath has mostly been a supervillain. Depending on how one wants to use him, he can either be an unrepentant monster or a would-be hero seeking redemption. His power makes him able to manipulate everyone on the team aside from Black Queen and Awesome Android.

  5. Re: How would your character rate on a villian's threat matrix? Guardian - Little is publicly known about him, you can probably find pictures of him if you spend more than twenty minutes looking for them online. He's a little like Batman was for a while where the general public thinks he is an urban legend, and he also doesn't socialize much with the "big name" heroes. Though there are rumors he's been around since the 1920s most would believe he's either a copycat or a legacy hero. VIPER would probably assume he's a normal, though highly trained human, and would rank him 1 or 2 since Guardian isn't known to have any major accomplishments to his name. In reality he's an immortal psionic-based metahuman who has helped found no less than four superteams and has many contacts. Vanguard - She is well known to the public and can be considered a "big name" hero. Thanks to the design of her power armor though most assume she is a man, which she does little to dissuade. VIPER would consider her a Level 5 threat, basing her rank of the (correct) belief that she most likely built her armor herself and has the resources to maintain it. She's also one of the leaders of the local unregistered hero team, which would raise her threat level to around 7 (the 5 is based on her known skills). Aside from her gender, her main trump card is that she is a technopath and can "talk" to almost any electronic device. Doctor - Despite being only a "normal" human, he would be ranked at least Level 8 (if not higher). He's the Scientist Supreme of his universe and has built most of devices used in government superhuman counter-measures. When in his lab he has access to some of the best weapons and security measures in the world, and additionally he has several "minions" that work for him. If VIPER would ambush him outside of his lab he would be easier to deal with, though they would probably suffer high casualties if they used conventional forces. They would have access to a lot of information about him though, since he is registered with the government (super-scientists have to register) and is a well known public figure. Since he tends to have trouble with local governments VIPER's best course of action to deal with him would be to manipulate the local government into evicting him from the city.
  6. Re: The Snow Storm Let's see, none of my characters have abilities that would let them clear the snow quicker but some of them can still help. Guardian - Telepathic detective, can find trapped/injured people faster than conventional searches. Vanguard - Power armor using technopath, she can probably be put to a variety of uses from debris clearing to coordinating activity. Doctor - Super scientist, would probably get bored and build a super snowplough to clear the streets.
  7. Re: Would your hero register his Secret ID with Primus? None of my characters would ever register, since although the government has been friendly to superheroes following 9/11 the PRIMUS equivalent in this universe has abused registration before. And registration with the UN is out of the question, as their paranormal investigation unit is very corrupt.
  8. Re: The Golden Apple The Guardian would, being an information broker himself, recognize the value of the flash drive (though he would wonder how such files got on a flash drive to begin with). Since he doesn't trust most governments and major organizations, the Flag Suit hero, Evangeline, and the government agent wouldn't get the drive. The reporter would probably be targeted by the other factions if he gave her the drive, so he wouldn't deal with her for her own protection. If Hammer gave him any trouble Guardian would simply defeat him in combat. The only one he would consider dealing with is Recluse, and that depends on how Recluse operates and who he sells to.
  9. Re: Escaped Amorphoid The Guardian would try and track the creature down and use his telepathy to determine if the amorphoid possesses a sentient mind. If it's just a mindless blob, capture and return. If the create is sentient though, he would try to organize an agreement between it and the scientists that would help both. Of course, if the creature is evil, then escape velocity for it.
  10. Re: Create a Hero Theme Team! Timothy Montauk thought he was an ordinary child, until his latent psionic powers manifested and he killed his family. Nicknamed Terror by the media, when he sleeps he subconsciously taps into the minds of those around him and creates psionic constructs of their greatest fear. These constructs are lethal, as Timothy's family learned the hard way. He was taken into government custody shortly after and was placed in suspended animation until doctors could find a way to help him. Okay, that's five so new team. The Shinsengumi, a 10-man team hailing from Japan. They are an "official" team and have some government backing. The team has a patriot/flagsuit vibe, but is not a requirement.
  11. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Ares of the Thousand Sword doesn't care who he's asked to kill, so long as they will give him a challenge. A superhuman able to access "hammer space", he can bring any sword needed for a fight to himself in an instant. Ares is not only a user of the sword, but a collector as well. He will go out of his way to liberate a sword that he feels is being missused regardless of the risk involved, something that has been used against him numerous times before. He also has a nasty habit of taunting his opponents/victims. The Strong are strong and the Weak are dead, so let's all play by the rules!
  12. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! When you need to kill large quantities of people with no thrills or fancy gunplay you hired The Jackal. A metahuman, Jackal can heal practically any injury he sustains and laughs at any pain normal humans could inflict on him. The Jackal is not above turning his weapons on civilians if it'll buy him time to escape from stronger supers. His weapons of choice are two Daewoo USAS-12 automatic shotguns for room clearing and a FN P90 as a backup weapon.
  13. Re: Super Zeroes Rotgut has the superhuman ability to turn top shelf vodka into bottom shelf vodka when he looks at a bottle.
  14. Re: Create a Hero Theme Team! I've got two: Libra was once a very successful defense attorney who honestly believed his clients were innocent of the crimes they were accused of. While defending a certain celebrity client, he crossed a moral line when he deliberately had a witness lie on the stand to win a case. Naturally he got his client released, but three weeks later the celebrity murdered a young intern. Racked with guilt, the lawyer discarded his previous identity and became Libra - the man who will bring balance. After brining his former client to justice he joined the Zodiac in exchange for help tracking down his previous clients to determine if he had done wrong by defending them. As far being a hero go, Libra is more likely than most to be willing to cross the line and kill. Ophiuchus is the secret backer of The Zodiac who funds the team for unknown reasons. When he interacts with the team he dresses in a black business suit and wears a green hood with a question mark on his face. He can telepathically control snakes and will use them to gather intelligence.
  15. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Jared Foster was a normal twenty-five year old living in his mother's basement, until one day when he bought a box of cursed Urkel-Os off of E-bay. For a reason he will never know, he decided to actually eat a bowl of the banana-flavored yellow loops and strawberry-flavored red loops. After eating the strange and artificial tasting cereal he decided to go for a walk. Some form of luck was with him that day, for not even one step outside and he was almost run over by an out of control car. Startled, he yelled out "Whoa, Mama!" and was struck with a bolt of lighting. When the smoke cleared, he discovered he had been transformed into Steve Urkel! Unable to change back, he turned to a live of crime after discovering he could annoy people to the point of committing suicide. Though he joined The Mascots, they hate him as well and will probably try and kill him first chance they get.
