I don’t know how to delete a thread but I would encourage that you let it stay up. I’m sure you‘re not the first person who missed the 0 END cost in the calculations. This would be helpful to other people who search for similar things.

Or, we don't impose a default that's not official, and assess AVADs and NNDs with care anyway. Those Advantages come with warnings, so even an inexperienced HERO GM should know to approach them warily.

I've never bought the notion that GMs and their players have to be so adversarial that they necessarily get into an "arms race" just because one of them wants an unusual Power build. A good gaming group should have enough trust to compromise on such issues, and IME the issues can almost always be worked out.

@Duke Bushido, one minor thing is that the Backgrounds are priced as a group. So Influencer that I bought, (because hey, why not?) is priced at 10 points whereas others could be price at 15 pts upto I think one is 40 pts. Those are listed out as separate point costs though that won’t be hard to figure out. I thought he would’ve had them more or less the same cost then perhaps suggested adders but that’s just me.

Because you can apply the Advantage, "Attack Versus Alternate Defense" (Resistant Flash Defense) to a Blast or Killing Attack, or even Strength if you want.

I haven’t found any one blog to follow. The Alexandrian does have some good articles but sorting through seems to be tough (for me). I enjoyed and agreed to his article on solid rules allow for good rulings.

@Duke Bushido, Heroes in a Hurry does have everything in point Blocks. The nice thing is when I wrote up Mr. Malleable I wanted to keep him at 300 pts. I was able to do it. The malleable option is 150 pts. Now I wanted to trim it to be able to buy other things. So I dropped Shape Shift iirc 49 pts. Snip, easy peasy.

I do not like that particular hobby-lingo (i.e., "murderhobo") and the accompanying overall trend of overanalyzing Player Characters in tabletop roleplaying games that usually resulted in more harm than good. There's too much finger-wagging while geeks try to police (if not one-up) other geeks. This "movement" (and even that is somewhat of an imprecise label) has lead to the informal-yet-widely accepted shunning of certain character types that fail to fit within a surprisingly narrow band of criteria and an implication that bringing a bit of the THAY-A-TUH to the table automatically makes the collective experience better. There should be considerable latitude in permissible character archetypes. Look, if everyone is having fun playing peripatetic warriors and rogues who support themselves through acts of violence...why the need for an intervention? Or a scolding? As long as the players are cooperating and all concerned parties can differentiate between reality and fiction, who cares how people find their fun?

Ninja-Bear got a reaction from Stanley Teriaca in A Thread For Random RPG Musings
Inspired by @Stanley Teriaca, Heroes in a Hurry, I created a Stretching character named. Mr. Malleable. (Though I kept him at 300 pts.) I just ran a starting adventure where two Robbers try to rob the Andromeda Bar (map from 5th Ed Resource kit).

Question, does it seem cheesy that I declared that when he went to Martial Grab the robber, I stated that Extra Limbs would cancel out the need to use his other arm? The SFX is that he’s hand Stretched big enough to wrap around the robber.

I still took an OCV penalty because of the maneuver.

Seems fine to me, but I have a lifelong bias in favor of stretchy heroes.  Been playing Malleable Man here for over two years now and having fun with the skewed twist on what elasticity actually is.  "It's not me warping, it's the universe."

No point in even playing a stretchy if you're not going to do the giant hands thing now and then.

The Workshop in the BFRPG forums has a thread about adventure party character sheets, as well as ones on 4x6 and 3x5 sheets. You may find something useful there.

It’s no big deal. I just wondered. No use getting in trouble for it. Oh and is there a particular reason why you’re doing a four man party? Besides perhaps that is all that fits on the sheet? I know that it’s assume that that’s the idea party size but really more is better! KotB suggests a minimum of a 6 member party.

I can't seem to find the place where I downloaded the sheet. I suspect it was a single character sheet that was shrunk down to a quarter size in order to fit a party of 4 in a single sheet, possibly for solo play. I can find similar sheets in the Basic Fantasy forums. If it's not against the rules, I can post a blank sheet of the one I used, but remember that I am not the creator, and I will take it down if asked.

How about Doom Patrol? Since they’re seeking their Doom? Btw, murderhobos just like fingernail on a chalk board.

Btw, where did you get that sheet from?

Back in the day, the Star Trek RPG (old enough that no one had to ask "which series") stimulated a great article about the tropes needed to get the feel of Star Trek.

The Prime Directive - we don't interfere.

Integrity - Starfleet Academy is filled with tests of character and opportunities to flunk out, so those who make it through all have high inegrity.

"Take me and free my men." - the Captain would trade his life for any crewman.

But it also discussed the tropes the GM had to honour.

That integrity leads to challenges, but success and not failure.

When the Captain walks into a hopeless situation to save that random crew member, it's not really hopeless- there is always a way to turn the tide.

"Phasers, Sir?  Ye've got 'em - I managed to restore one bank."

I'm amazed how often I read GM diatribes of their players who refuse to follow genre tropes, and instead gravitate to murderhobos who don't trust or care about NPCs.

Then we dig a little deeper.  Heroes show restraint?  They lose the combat and the villains win.

Heroes don't kill?  The villain comes back, this time causing even more damage to anything the PCs/players care about.

Trust an NPC?  You get betrayed.

Those genre tropes the heroes follow cause them challenges, but they also come back to the heroes' benefit, not their detriment.  If the GM won't follow that trope, why would the players follow their genre tropes?

Once again, the reason the Joker has to be taken out now is not because of anything innate in his character, but because of the way writers have been writing him. Each new writer thinks they have to top the previous one. Frank Miller tried to show Joker at his most unhinged, most horrible so that Batman had to take extreme measures to stop him -- and later authors took that as a base line and wanted to make THEIR Joker story even more awful.

In the end, they turned a sinister, somewhat deadly clown who did tricks like turn every fish in the harbor into Joker fish... into a mass murdering psychopath who slaughters by the dozens, or hundreds.  THAT Joker has to be taken out.  The Joker he started as, no.

It can but you need a larger sandbox. My current game is multiple realties invaded earth to steal its energy, earth itself used it to fight back and created supers. Different countries/continents have different realties. A “governing” body coordinates efforts and the PCs can go anywhere.

however my players are in reactive mode rather then proactive mode. So I’m about to force the issue
