  1. I did a search, and didn't find an answer to my question. But what benefit is falling prone? FRED-Revised says you lose half your DCV, but you may gain bonuses due to concealment. In a game I ran recently, a pc dropped prone and fired on an NPC 8" away (who was standing). The PC did not drop behind anything - there was no wall or other opportunities for concealment. So does the PC just simply lose half their DCV with no other benefit? Or, because just their 'head and shoulders' are showing, they get a bonus of +4? How does this work in a campaign that uses Hit Locations?
  2. Re: Question about Move Throughs/Bys Thank you, Courtfool!
  3. I do an 8d6 move through on a target. I roll 24 stun and 8 body. I take half of that. Does that mean that the target actually takes 12 stun and 4 body, and I take the other 12 and 4...? Or the half damage I take, doesn't "come out of" the damage I do? Yes, this is a newbie question, but it's been some time since I've played!
  4. Re: Gun prefab? So, is there an official word as to whether we can all pitch together and do a prefab for all the guns in Dark Champions? Would anyone else be interested in doing that? Steve, are you listening?
  5. Re: Gun prefab? Ok, in trying to add all the guns as Pre-Fabs (ugh), I have come across a possibly stupid question. DC, p201, it says, that "An OCV and/or RMod penalty for a firearm is bought as a "Side Effect" (-1/4). The gun prefabs in the 'Free Stuff' shows a .38 Derringer, with a -2 OCV -2Rmod as Custom adders (-5 cp's, and -3 cp's, respectively). So which is it?
  6. Re: Gun prefab? Hmmm, I was hoping there was a better answer than this. Does this mean I have to enter all the gun data as prefabs in the software? Ugh. Why wasn't it a part of DC?
  7. I did a brief search, but I couldn't find an answer to my question. Is there somewhere that lists all the changes from 5th to 5th Revised?
  8. Re: Dark Champions Campaigns Sorry to resurrect this old thread - but everything here is mighty interesting (especially because I'm about to kick off my own weird conspiracy/Delta Green/Psi Powers type campaign). Anyone else care to share what they're doing with DC now?
  9. I'm looking to start up a Dark Champions game, and I'd like to be able to easily show my players which options we will and won't be using. This includes not only things like Hit Location, but also some of the optional ways to use skills in DC. I recall back in the fourth edition that there was a sheet that had the various levels of morality, the darkness of the game, etc - as well as a list of options. Is there one for fifth? And more importantly, is there one that encompasses the variety of optional rules for DC? Thank you...!
  10. Re: Torg HERO I don't think there's a need to try and simulate the K's and O's. A mechanic like that is there purely for guaging pc/npc mortality; we already have stun and body.
  11. Re: Psychic Wars I can't recommend the world of the Necroscope books enough. I ran a campaign under Hero that was close to those books, but had more to do with Call of Cthulhu. I've wanted this type of genre book since... well... since Champions II. I'll buy two copies.
  12. Re: Torg HERO There *is* interest. I'm the original poster over on RPG.net (Ascending Crane). I was thinking of just putting my collection of Hero books and Torg books (all!) in a room and hoping that 'something' would happen, but alas. Nothing did. However, Phil has in one post taken a crack at a large portion of what needs to be converted. And a darn good crack it is, too. Rather than just you doing this, Phil - what about the rest of us? Is anyone else interested in putting together a little unofficial project here? Doc Mobius (oh, I KNOW you'd be up for it with a name like that)? Delthrien? Imagine! Starting templates for the various realms that are *balanced*. Imagine! No more glass ninja problem. Imagine! Putting stats to Hachi Mara-Two, Kurst, and the other NPC's we probably all know and love. Think about it folks, we could divide up the work and have it done in no time (ahem, with what Phil has already done!).
  13. My campaign power limit is 65 active points. A character in the group is a basic gadgeteer - with a Variable Power Pool. How do YOU handle it? A) He can have a pool that's 100 points large if he wants to - but each individual power must be no greater than 65 active points. His pool is only 65 active points - he can build a single gadget with that, or a bunch of small ones that add up to that. C) Other I understand the usual 'it's your campaign' argument - I'm looking for more of a what's right by the book type of answer. Also - for a Gadget VPP - do you put the focus limitation on the control cost - or on the individual items? Make more sense to put it on the items, so that you can have more bang for your buck. Thanks, guys.
  14. First, I would ignore anything about trying to actually hit. Make it Mind Control, but perhaps something like "Ineffective if PRE or DEF over 20 (-1/2)". Give him Does Not Give Mental Awareness, also. Possibly have "Requires Skill Roll" to reflect him shooting, if you're looking to shave points. Of course, Single Command Only (Dance!!).
