  3. Re: Favorite lost villain group YES! I loved this group, and way back when I first got the adventure I managed to wriggle a few side adventures in where the PCs met the heroes. This was probably the only long-term campaign I ran that worked out as well as anyone could hope for. Dr. Photon and Irredencia were the only two to escape the PCs, and they rebuilt a team that plagued the PCs for a long time following the adventure. Deathstroke was always a favorite of mine, as were The Ultimates. Eurostar was a hoot to run, especially when they were trying to "lay low" and the PCs stumbled across 'em. I enjoyed the Geodesics a great deal. They were a fun foil to pit against the PCs for no reason whatsoever. They even helped against The Ultimates once (then looted a bank on their way out). Like everyone else I miss those days....
  4. Re: Corven's Heroes & Villains Haven't been around in a while but it's cool to find you've continued the good work. No major critiques on my part--it's too darn hard to get into debating what a comic character can and can't do, and frankly I just enjoy seeing respectable write-ups of all-time favorites. Well done.
  5. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Just finished "Cursor's Fury", the third book in the fantasy series by Jim Butcher (of "Dresden Chronicles" fame). I really enjoy that series. Good fantasy campaign material with a bit of a Roman foundation. Of note, Butcher's next offering in the Dresden Chronicles, "White Night", (9th in the series) comes out tomorrow. I have it on pre-order so I should get it within the week.
  6. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Heya, Storn. It's been awhile since I've perused your thread (well, any threads, actually), but I wanted to say "good work as usual". This was one of only a handful of threads that I actually missed during my "away time". By the way, how's yer schedule lookin'? Also, since I have in mind a character that's kinda difficult even for me to describe, do you do "quick sketch" ideas prior to full commissions? I'm leery of either of us trying to get this right the first time, but I'm also eager to get a pic made (not in a hurry, mind you, just eager). Thanks in advance, kind sir!
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Didn't know where else to ask: besides being woefully behind on my Hero Games shopping (7 books + the commemorative edition...sheesh!), have I missed anything I should know about? It's been not-quite five months--just curious.
  8. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Dell XPS 600 fully loaded. Pentium D 3 Ghz 1GB Dual Channel RAM 160GB Hard Drive Dual DVD-ROM/DVD+RW drives NVidia Geforce...um...7800 (I think) video card. 512MB Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 19" Flat Panel $2k debt I got a bunch of extras and such, mainly cuz I had a discount. This is the first computer I've purchased with full warranty and all the fixins (as opposed to those friends & coworkers have helped put together/configure), so I figured I'd go all out just this once. I wanted a 'puter that I could grow with, not one that I could grow out of...at least for a while.

  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings I'm hoping. I'll have to keep a day job for a while (probably at less pay than I was getting with IBM), but I'm also starting barbacking next month with the potential of picking up a Sunday night shift soon thereafter, the idea being to determine if I really want to do this. I've spent all of my adult life in bars. I've done everything you can do except bartend. I've been a bouncer, a barback, a karaoke host, a DJ and a line cook. Now, I don't want to work or own a bar&grill just yet, but the experience was useful. The point is, bars are what I know and love. I know I can do this on a mental and emotional level; it's a matter of being able to transition financially (i.e. I ain't selling the house to bartend). I've become good friends with the owner of my favorite neighborhood watering hole, and after talking at length with him about bartending and (hopefully) owning my own place one day, his reply was something along the lines of a knowing smile and "About time you realized what we all knew." He has offered me anything I need to get started--training, a job, advice, etc--anything except a loan and/or the keys to his bar. He's even intimated he'd work for me if I ever get a place of my own, just to help get things going. You can't do much better than having a ready-made mentor in place if you wanna switch careers. Hopefully this'll all work out. In the meantime, back to the job searches...

  14. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat The name "woodchuck" comes from a Cree Indian word, wuchak, and to use the vernacular is highly offensive to Native American Marmots. The NAACP will be calling on you soon.
