Re: DnD's Spiked Chain
The problem I have with the dnd spiked chain is that it does to much damage.
That is easly fixed though, 1t4 dam in dnd and 1d6 redused pen in hero system.
A chain is consisting of links that even if spiked would bend off the targets armour.

Really fast fighter planes!
With forcefields!

Re: Glitter Boy for 34 points- is that sick?
Ah' date=' but the GB armor says "half damage from [b']lasers[/b]." The fact that some frequency lasers do go through means that the resistance is not as potent as advertised. In that case, I might be tempted to give the Chromium Finish Damage Reduction an Activation Roll (since it doesn't specify what frequency - does it change? Can I just make a laser of that frequency to begin with?).The power to negate the Kronium laser resistant power is in the laser gun that shoots the armour it has nothing to do with the armour itself.
A variable laser would be bought with the variable special effect advantage (only to counteract laser resistant armour -1/2) or something like that.

Re: Bye all
Ah well, at least Fox1 didn't go out with a michaelnenonen-like "I'm leaving, and here's my 40,000 word dissertation (in 3 parts, plus bibliography and copious quotes from Noam Chomsky) on why!"
I really miss that guy..
That is because a zombie bunny is still a bunny..We had a zombie bunny running around here for Frith-knows-how-long and nobody said boo. Now we get one single disembodied head and it's all "run for the hills!" I just don't get you people. -
Re: Glitter Boy for 34 points- is that sick?
I too would like to see a write up of the "shiny lad" armour.

Re: The Network: Campaign Setting Idea
It isn't so much that they can move on all four dimensions but they have access to the fourth dimension. That sounds interesting, let us know when you have come up with more
-
Re: The Network: Campaign Setting Idea
That is going to be a real though challenge to fight somone that can move in four dimensions.

Re: The Network: Campaign Setting Idea
The campaign premise seems good enough, you should spend more time on developing cool aliens, the command structure of the players is just background material.
More about aliens! How do they fight, how do they live, what do they want, and what do they want?
Off course way you gm it is more important than the actual premise look at the premise for signs or the premise for battlefield earth (the aliens not the rest). Think about how you are going to let the players experience the alien presence.

Re: Monsters, Minions, and Marauders: Opinions?
I don't know what you are talking about. MMM is very focused toward a high fantasy setting, and is not so generic in scope. Certain assumptions made in the flavor text -- the nature of hobgoblins comes to mind most readily -- are only applicable to a very specific world, namely the Turakian Age setting. What??
That does not suit the monsters minions and maruder book I have!
(mumble... mumble.... gurps.. mumble..)

Re: Monsters, Minions, and Marauders: Opinions?
It is well worth the money.

Re: Monsters, Minions, and Marauders: Opinions?
It is one of the best monster books out there and much better illustrated than normal hero products, the monsters works well for both high fantasy and sword and sorcery.

Re: Fire Balls Spells and Hit Locations.
The armour you got on your torso is the armour I use for protection against area of effect attacks.
Fire ball should not be nnd because that is to heavy. Use + in stun modifier instead to simulate the painfull burns.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Strange every time I pressed the space bar the cursor jumped one row down just as it does when you press enter?
First I thougt that the moderators were messing around but then I tried to twist and bend the keyboard a little back and fourth and then the space bar worked as it should again..

Re: Another take on fantasy campaigns
I like the genetic engenering bit.
I don't really see how humans could naturally evolve into orcs and Trolls.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Here is a pic form the local newspaper.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
An store house for a local babywagon factory caught on fire.
Black smoke were billowing right above the house.
The smoke is gone now. But I am going to stay indoors a little while longer.
First thing I thought was that one of the ships in the tall ship race had caught on fire but that was wrong.
Good thing I did not die, death by polyester would be kind of lame.
-
Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Because the smoke is gone now, they say on the local news that the firebrigade is on the scene.
-
Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Shouldent this go in the musings on random musings thread
how about the smell but no smoke?
-
Re: A Thread for Random Musings
They say it is burning in an old polyester storehouse.
Hmm... Is polyester smoke dangerous?
DnD's Spiked Chain

Re: DnD's Spiked Chain
Its true that the attack of opportunity can be a problem in dnd, that is why I dropped the rule that say you get attack of opportunity on the guy that charges you.
Charge is heroic and cool and should be rewarded in the rules (I give double dam on successful hit) not punished.
