    That is interesting.
When I made the characters my players play in my game they actually loved it. Although I showed them the pictures expecting them to laugh

Well atleast those things gave jobs back. This does not.

You dismiss it to easily.  Check out these I actually put ten minutes effort into.
Well ten minutes for one of them the two others were about two and one minutes.

So these pictures are worth nothing and was only created by things stolen from other artists.

But in a world where people rather fly with junk heaps planes barley hanging together instead of more expensive and comfortable planes just to save money this souless art has two  advantages. Its cheap and quick.

And I fear that this will make people not buy commissions as often as they do now.

Another bad note is that the AI dont let you create sexy pictures (I heard.. Ahem..) this means the only commision artist that will not be run broke by access to endless amount of cheap crap AI pictures are the ones that draw porn!

World has gotten worse. AI can off course be used to something good but people have only used it to cut into peoples occupations livelihood so far.

I just finished selling all of my brother's old Magic the Gathering cards, which were... quite a bit more valuable than I had expected.  I watched their little upcoming events scroll board and there's no RPG playing going on.  Zero scheduled.  There's one Warhammer event and a ton of card games.  It breaks your heart.  Even the D&D section is a small corner of the shop.  They have zero Hero products on the shelf.  I almost wept.

I really enjoyed playing MTG in the past, but you're right, it destroyed my favorite hobby.

I've always thought of Magic The Gathering as a cancer on the TTRPG Hobby since it's debut in 1993 Worldcon. It's a curse, that crippled the hobby for about a decade, until Paizon figured out a formula to avoid it, but that caused a bump in CCG's that just sucked money out of the hobby.  MTG is Hasbro's  flagship at the moment, as it's on of the few activities they still sell that makes money, and does not require a screen to play. For what had been a toy company, that produced GI-Joe, and then later Transformers, the loss of Toys-R-Us, as well as a general shift to screens for kids, meant that their options had changed and CCGs were it.

Pinkerton did a lot of union busting for Amazon and a lot of Hasbro suits are former Amazon guys.
Hasbro is just a syndicate at this point. None of the leaders there have ever created anything. Just a bunch of goons buying up everything and then jacking up prices, cutting corners and trying to strong arm monopolies into place.
I will never give Hasbro money ever again and dont come to me with "but the people who works at wizards are good guys".
If you work for hasbro in any capacity now your just a scab. Get yourself a new job.

Yeah this thing with the Pinkertons bothers me even more than the OGL 2.0 thing, and that's saying something.  From what I've read of the incident, the Pinkertons and their employer would be liable for home invasion, fraud, and extortion, and possibly some stalking laws for good measure.  These aren't just contract shenanigans, they're full on crimes.  It doesn't help that there are WotC managers who were hired directly from the Pinkertons.  Why does Hasbro have a "Director of Global Investigations" anyway?

The Great Net Book of Real Heroes still exists.

Older edition versions, mostly 4th, but still interesting and useful.

Sadly, many of the Hero fan web pages that were around twenty years ago, have lapsed. I'd have to poke around to see what I can still find.

I recently ran the rules-light superhero RPG ICONS at a local game convention and it worked out beautifully, especially since out of the two groups of players that participated in the sessions I ran, only one had actually played role-playing games before. For the others, it was their first time ever and it was easy to explain the game mechanics and character sheet layout to them as well. Looking ahead to the next game event, though, I was thinking about running Champions and Fantasy Hero, which both have a special place in my gaming heart since I have been playing them since high school and college, respectively. I've owned and played other games (e.g. Robotech, Pendragon, DC Heroes, Villains & Vigilantes) before them, but in the end, my preference is still Hero System.

Why, beyond sentimental memories of rolling lots of d6s over pizza in the college dorm? It finally hit me when I purchased Fantasy AGE and its Bestiary over the weekend, a worthy fantasy game system in its own right. The products are first rate and the rules are to easy to pick up, but then it hit me: how do I establish game balance between the players and their opponents? How do I design my own monsters? That's when I realized the "beautiful madness" of Hero System. The beauty of Hero's point system has always been, and remains, a great way to determine the relative power level of a character, whatever the genre, as outlined in their respective game and source books. The madness, of course, is all of the nuances and related rules that can affect point totals, and the rules heavy nature of the Hero System that often turned new players away or frustrated them. The source books themselves remain amazing academic references that as educators, my wife and I loved...but was that really the writers' intent? 🤔

So, I challenged myself with this question: how can I make Hero System "Easy to Follow" for brand new players? Here's what I've done to create what I call, "Easy to Follow Fifth Edition" for the character sheet layout:
    1) All of the statistics are written out; virtually no acronyms are used. (The Hero Designer file exists, but players aren't interested in that raw data.)
    2) After the statistics are listed, the next two major entries are "Offense" and "Defense" that list combat values, main attacks, and defenses.
    3) Everything else is listed under Skills and Abilities, followed by Disadvantages.
    4) Perks & Talents are minimized. The skills and powers are only the main ones that people readily know and pick up. Not every minute detail is listed, especially when it can get tedious.

My friend, who's only played ICONS so far and head was spinning when I first introduced Hero System to her a while back, is coming over to look at what I created with a fresh set of eyes. Here is what I've created so far for Champions and Fantasy Hero as samples. Constructive feedback is welcome to see if it answers the question, "Does this make Hero System easier to understand?"

    Thanks!

I have been playing Champions since the original release but haven't played for almost 12 years or shortly after 5e came out (which I loved). I just ordered the 6th edition book but been thinking about how I would run a game now and came out with this balance chart. I am hoping to get some input from the forums on it.

Mostly this subject is better to watch or read about then play, mostly because the players use this as an excuse to get away with evil deeds safely than to actually think of it as "your character had a moral core, it's just looks different from most people",

The problem I’ve ran into with this in the past is the PCs working to out “evil” each other and cold, calculated, and a bit cruel quickly devolves into barbarism. debauchery, and maybe cannibalism.

Yep.  That's what I do.  Has nothing to do with game balance, though: it is just faster, easier, requires zero preload, and absolutely no "stop the game for a minute; I need to do some math."

It is easier on the players as well: all they have to remember is "I can do +X with this kind of weapon."

For game balance I would say deadly blow is hand killing attack for hand to hand only and deadly shot is ranged killing attack for ranged attack only.
It costs more but I am fine with that as damage is cheap in hero system any way.
