  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... One more quick one : Harry, Red, Maiden and Dreamy (the PCs) have finally subdued Harker, and have her tied up in the room next door. They are discussing what to do with her. Harry: Right, so at least she's still unconcious. Red: For perhaps the next few minutes. She heals fast. Harry: Right... Dreamy, what are the chances you can you know (makes wavey motions next to his head). Dreamy: Harry, like I told you before, those changes aren't permanent. She'll remember eventually and anyway... it's just... wrong. Harry (sighs): Right, right... Maiden: Umm, did we just leave her in a locked room with Infernis? (Harry's demon girlfriend) Everyone is about to stand up at this, when as if on cue, Sgt Superior (Harry's military-type rival) walks in through the hole Harry "made" earlier. Sgt: Browncoat! Have you seen my daughter? She said she was coming this... Muffled screams are heard from Harker's room. Before anyone can act, the Sgt runs over, fearing the worst, and opens the door to see... Infernis shapeshifted into a sexy looking woman wearing leather and carrying a whip. Harker is tied to a chair, gagged, bound and has her shirt torn off. Infernis: Oh, Harry? She has another five minutes in the happy chair, now wait your turn... The Sgt closes the door and looks at Harry. Harry winces, expected to be pummeled as the other PCs wisely move away from him. But, the Sgt walks over with a grim face and puts a hand on Harry's shoulder. "Get help son. Just... Just get help." He walks out the door. Red (extra snarky): Now that's both dissatisfying... and disturbing.
  2. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... The PCs are in a big fight, with Harry (a mage) and his friend Maiden (a not so agility Brick) fighting a very fast Harker (martial artist). Harry fires a blinding bolt at Harker, and then Maiden flies at Harker from behind, trying to do a shoulder attack/move through. Harker though, has blind-fighting and does a martial throw, throwing Maiden into Harry! Both of the PCs go crashing through the window and slam into the building next door... Maiden was flying very fast and is very strong... I guessed about 15d would be ok (I had 15d in front of me ) The dice are rolled and come up... 20 points of damage! Harry isn't even bruised! (thanks to his force field and armored trenchcoat) Harry blinks, pushes Maiden off, and turns around to look at the Harry-shaped impression in the brick wall. Harry (pats trenchcoat): Now that's fine tailoring... -SC
  3. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? Thank you for all of your help! I ran a game last night, introducing Infernis as a new "housemate" and things went... differently. The PCs were arguing and were about to split up over the argument when Elizabeth Harker, Red's old childhood friend/rival shows up, now a demon hunter. Elizabeth was deployed by the Council after they had detected a lot of demon-type magic in the area, and the demon hunter was NOT pleased at all to find Harry reluctant to tell her where Infernis was. The rest of the party actually did not know where she was either, but their silence/unhelpfulness was taken as a conspiracy! (A demon one too ) A fight started, and eventually led to some comedic scenes, mostly as the PCs had to do some fast thinking when Sgt Superior and his daughter Kate stopped by. Also it was serious, as Harker made the PCs really think about if they should dismiss Infernis (and also Harry). Eventually, they made a deal with Harker, and the demon hunter agreed to keep their secret... for a time. Meanwhile, Harry went out and registered Infernis as a super-heroine! I will try to write more later, as there were many fun events, and put quotes in the "quote of the week" thread. Again, thank you for all your help! -SC
  4. Re: A little, but not too much Martial Power? Thank you for the help! Sorry to also ask, but is there a way that you can fight multiple opponents or hit one target multiple times with martial arts without making powers? I would like to keep the character as "normal" as possible, although a few powers may be necessary... -SC
  5. Dear All, Sorry to post on a topic that I had started elsewhere, but I wanted to know how much power I should put in a martial artist antagonist for my PCs. I have four PCs: One is a brick-type with a high str (60), very hard to hurt with a high (PD/ED 25 or so), but has a low (DEX12) OCV/DCV and no combat skills. The other is a fragile psi with the same DEX and no combat skills and no additional PD/ED. The other two are mages with DEX 15-18 and maybe one or two combat skill levels. They have force fields that are PD/ED15. I wanted to make the antagonist able to easily be able to scatter the group if attacked with surprise, but not strong enough to withstand the group if they attack as a team. I did not want to put in too little power, as the PCs would not consider the character a threat, but did not want to put in too much as they could be easily defeated. What limits should I put on this build? Should I use Damage Levels or is a weapon based character better? Thank you, -SC Edit: Apologies for the strange smiley, I was not expecting it to be so... odd...
  6. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? Thank you all for the ideas! I have thought and have come up with a few possibilities for demon hunters that are associated with another PC (Red), so at least it will be interesting... I wanted to make the hunter a martial artist type, but I was not sure as to how much power to give her. I think I will have to make another thread? -SC
  7. Re: I killed a PC. You might want to talk with the PCs. Time after death could be very different, especially if cultural expectations are different. -SC
  8. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? I also very much like the idea of demon hunters... Harry is supposed to be hunting down dangers to humanity, not sleeping with them! Perhaps it is time that ramifications step in? I am also a bit worried that my campaign is becoming too one-character intense... Perhaps it is time to spread out the focus, or bring other characters into it? Other PCs: 1. Red Snarky female mage, caster of defensive spells. Harry's old friend and former rival (She considers that Harry lost their last fight, so she's ok with him now). Perfectly fine with taking plans apart, but not makes too many of her own... 2. Dreamy Pretty female psi, powerful telepath, but physically very fragile. Also glad to watch from the sidelines, but I would love to bring her into something. 3. Maiden Teenage boy whose super form is a 1940's superwoman (famous). PC is still new, daily tasks are still lots of fun Perhaps I should get Infernis loose on them? -SC As for the "Can she cook?" question, I'm not sure if many people would summon her/sell their soul just to have dinner made
  9. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? Lucius: I can see what you mean! Perhaps I am not taking it from the proper point of view! (This is why I like this forum, if there is something strange/not making sense people can tell me I know my PCs won't tell me that... at least not in time!) She might have knowledge of human morals, but not a real understanding of it, because she has yet to experience them for herself. Humans are alien to demons, and their need for restraints, may seem odd and maybe delusional? She may be very good at taking apart people's morals, but now she might be interested in seeing why Harry is making a big fuss over them... Ian McKinder: I like this very much too! She is in a strange situation, as she could very much potentially benefit, as she has freedom in the human world to do what she wants, but in order to do so she has to "play by human rules." Or at least look like she is doing so? She would be maybe like a demolitions person who is now living with an architect, and trying to see why building things up is so much more interesting than destroying them... -SC
  10. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? BoloofEarth: I like this idea, especially if it would be possible for her to shapeshift into a "sidekick" or "assistant" for Harry. The possibilities are quite fun, I think. I like all of these ideas, but I was not sure as to how much "anime" type a standard Champions game could take I especially like the magic girlfriend type (even if it is very unrealistic descriptions of women), but it would be interesting to play around with many of the concepts. I wonder how standard Superheroes would react knowing she was a demon? -SC
  11. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? Thank you for all of your replies! I will try answer those who I can now... Lucius: I have not defined how old Infernis is. I thought maybe relatively old by demon standards, but not ancient. Early to mid Centuries. Ian Mackinder: Thank you! It is good to be back. I think a few serious stories mixed in with some fun is what I wanted DJ Blackrock: It is a very interesting idea with the shape-shifting I was thinking about using her powers with naughtiness this way, but I am not sure if she will be "disloyal" to Harry this way (Even if he is to her...). Cygnia: Oh, that is awful -SC
  12. Re: My Demonic Housewife?? It took a while to find it in English. -SC
  13. Hi All, I am back It is good to see so many familiar faces/names I have been away (for good reason, if anyone is interested, I am working on a blog for it, as I must speak someplace other than the Champions forums ), but have been doing some game by mail with my players. One thing I wanted to bring up, and thank you for all of your help with this, is that my leader PC, Harry, who is a mage in a modern Champions setting, has recently decided to let his demon girlfriend (she really is a demon) move in with him! I was a bit shocked, but the player seems pretty enthused by this. The demon's name is Infernis, and she has a number of powers, including soul drain, flight, shape-shifting (which Harry doesn't know about... yet), and a complete lack of understanding of human morals. Harry hopes that by moving in, she will become more human, but well, I think many, many plot hooks are available, as he hasn't told his other housemates (the other PCs!). I have some ideas for naughtiness, but I wanted to come here and have a brainstorming on the many things that could be possible I think Infernis won't kill anyone (to stay on Harry's good side), but well, anything else is a possibility! Thank you again, and it is SO good to see everyone! -SC
  14. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Oh and one more from the same session, where Sgt Superior and his daughter Kate are being debriefed by the heroes as to what to tell the government Red (PC): And umm... that big castle thing was due to... heat waves. Kate: Heat... waves? Sgt: Don't interrupt the lady Katie. Heat... waves... got it. And those big horn-and-teeth monsters? Dreamy (other PC): Uh... mutants. Sgt: Mutants. Got it. They're always crazy lookin' Kate: Daddy! They said they were demons and I was held in a magic castle in the middle of a... Sgt: Katie, honey, I know this is your first op, but you have to understand, there are two kinds of truths: 1) The real truth, the one that Daddy suspects, but can't tell anyone because they will put Daddy in a big crazy house full of the people Daddy's been putting in there for most of his life where they will beating me with socks full of pencils and soap all day and 2) The truth that the intelligence people tell you that you can tell is full of it, but you're better off not questioning for the good of everyone. Especially Daddy's career since that your shrew of a mother decided to stab Daddy in the back with additional monthly payments. (gets more enraged) You know I don't have any foreign accounts woman! If only you were a super-villain, I'd... (looks at Kate) But you know Katie-bear that we love you very much and no matter how much we fight, we still care about you. Kate: Uh, thanks Daddy.
  15. Re: Military Eye for the Civilian Gal Thank you all for the replies! The Sgt and the ENTIRE Justice Battalion were deployed yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. Kate (the Sgt's daughter) was kidnapped, and the PCs found where she was being held (a magic castle of all things...), but they needed a very big distraction as there were hundreds of demons and evil spy-agents. So, the Sgt called up his commander, Major Victory, and within an hour, had dozens of super-heroes assaulting the castle. It was a pretty amazing thing. The Sgt even helped save the day by secretly getting Kate out of the castle (even though he was upset he couldn't stay for the final confrontation). At the end of everything, Harry decided not to date Kate, the Sgt decided Harry wasn't an "entire" waste of flesh, and the two now have a grudging friendship-rivalry. (Although Kate is a bit sad that Harry isn't going out with her anymore...) Thank you again! -SC
