Maccabe got a reaction from Nekkidcarpenter in [LFP] [Roll20] [Thu 19:00-21:00ish EST] Champions (Hero System 6th ed)
I might be interested and I know a few others who are looking for a game also.

Maccabe reacted to nitrosyncretic in Seeking players: Champions Now online game
Are you stuck at home by the COVID-19 restrictions?
Do you want to play Champions Now? (See below for more on what Champions Now is about.)
Seeking two, maybe three players who can commit to four weekly sessions.
Thursdays 3pm-6pm Pacific Daylight Time online. (Probably Roll20.net)
(4-7 MDT, 5-8 CDT, 6-9 EDT; UTC 22:00 to 01:00)
Weekly for four weeks, with possible continuation as our schedules and possible return to regular work schedules allow.
Champions Now starts with the original Champions rules of 1980 and adjusts and polishes them to support game play that reproduces the feel of superhero comic book stories for the 1960s and 70s (think early Spider-Man or Fantastic Four.) I have the final rulebook from the kickstarter and will be teaching how it's different from Hero System as we play. check out the Champions Now subforum here on Hero Games community website and also seethe kickstarter info at

Maccabe reacted to Trechriron10 in Hero-Champions-RPG Discord Server
I have stood up a new Discord Server called Hero-Champions-RPG.
You can join with this (permanent) link --> Hero-Champions-RPG
Goals:
A discord server focused on the HERO RPG and genre books; past, present and future. A place where folks can schedule and run online discord games. A place where HERO can announce new releases. A place where 3rd Party Publishers can announce new releases. A place where people can share or announce Kickstarter projects relevant to HERO gamers. A discord server that comes up in searches, focused on this awesome RPG!
Let me know if you want to be a Mod! I'm happy to add any HERO games peeps as Admins as well (obviously).

Welcome back to the fold, GTO! Yes, the Hero System continues to march on. We aren't a big player base, but we're pretty passionate, relatively creative, and quite welcoming to newcomers to our online community.
Regarding the "ease of access for new players" issue, various parties have created a variety of helpful free game aids to ease them in, which you can download from this website. For example:

Maccabe reacted to Manic Typist in Getting Better: Tonight's Mistakes
So I had another one of those nights where I knew I should know the rules but in the moment I was uncertain (I also had one of those "stop watching me do basic math" when determining how much damage was done after defenses, love it).
So I thought I'd share what things I drew a blank on, and then go review the rules and share the results, in the hopes that it'll save others time/encourage others to share their own lessons from things they forgot/generate interesting discussion.
1) Passing Strike - the player works straight out of HeroDesigner, and I forgot to print his sheet for my reference, so he ended up asking me "So is it +30 STR or 30 STR total for this move?" and since I couldn't see his screen... I made a call but honestly couldn't be sure. I don't really love this habit of his but if I'd had a hard copy I could have answered it. That was really my biggest pain point all night and it was entirely self-inflicted.
2) Using Desolid/Flight combo power in conjunction with Disarm/Passing Disarm - Same PC, has a Desolid movement power like Reaper in Overwatch. In the case of Disarm, you can definitely do a half move/then Disarm. With Passing Disarm... the PC wanted to activate the Power, then fly across the room, rematerialize and use Disarm (need to make sure the PC actually has Passing Disarm... point is, since they don't have the "Affects Solid" (forget the proper name off the top of my head) Advantage, they would need to deactivate the Power to perform the Passing Disarm. I ruled it was allowable but am going to research the combination of Activating/Deactivating a power and then performing a maneuver at the end.
3) Need to review the Sweep/Multiple Attack w/Manuevers rules. I know it's you take the worst of all modifers and apply it to all, with a -2 to all attacks after the first... but want to double check.
4) Another player thought AVAD couldn't do BODY as a default, like NND requires the "Does Body" Adv. I honestly couldn't recall.
5) Can you draw a weapon as a part of movement? I think I thought this but it's because I was recently reviewing the rules for Pathfinder.
6) Shapeshift - I've never used it as a PC, so I need to re-read it again. Mostly I'm want to be ready for when the PC, who has multiple identities via Shapeshift, gets knocked unconscious. Do they revert to their true form? Is there a heal back associated with it like Transform?
Now to pull out my books and see what I can look up.

You are correct. I am not saying the 6E way is wrong. I just prefer the aesthetic of the previous build.
I prefer:
Transfer: Transfer END 4d6 (60 Active Points) Real Cost: 60 CP
over
Transfer: Drain END 4d6 (40 Active Points); Unified
Power (-.) (total cost: 32 CP) plus Aid END 4d6 (standard effect:
same roll as Drain dice), Trigger (when character uses Drain,
activating Trigger takes no time, Trigger immediately automatically
resets; +1) (48 Active Points); Only Aid Self (-1), Linked (-.),
Unified Power (-.). Real Cost: 51 CP
and
Instant Change: Switch one set of clothes for another. Real Cost: 3 CP
over
Instant Change: Cosmetic Transform 1d6 (standard
effect: switch one set of clothes for another), Trigger (changing
clothing is a Zero Phase Action, Trigger automatically resets;
+.) (5 Active Points); Limited Target (the character’s current
clothing; -.). Real Cost: 3 CP

Maccabe reacted to Chris Goodwin in Danger International: Global Task Force Omega vs. the World Terror Front
I'm going to run a game of third-edition Danger International at GameStorm this year. I'm using this thread for character notes, ideas, my thoughts while designing the game, and so on. Suggestions and advice are helpful!
Note that my Low Heroic Protocols (see link in my signature) are in effect here. This is essentially a default condition for Danger International, as there are no Powers!
I'm going to try something with character creation. I'm putting together something like the Champions Character Creation Cards, for Danger International. I'm going to make up a set of note cards with the skill and stat blocks on them; for ease of use I'm going to do my best to get everything to a cost multiple of 5 points, then on the card I'm going to mark down that cost divided by 5, to make it easier for new folks. Choose a character sheet, choose a personal skill block, choose an MOS, make sure your total adds up to (x). I'm thinking 25, for a 125 total point game.
The stat blocks are:

Maccabe reacted to Daisuke in Tips and Tricks on How To Be A Game Master for Heroes
Hey, I was wondering if I can get some tips and tricks on how to be a GM for heroes. They aren't any games being run where I am, and I've never actually played the game before, but since there's isn't any games around me I wanted to run a game myself. I have some hero's books and I have a general idea on how to make characters, still figuring some things out.
My Idea for a campaign would be like My Hero Academia the anime, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Maccabe reacted to Rails in Champions of the North 4th ed: RCMP package deal
The "Basic RCMP Officer Package Deal" is on page 49 of the 2007 edition (for Fifth Edition rules) of Champions of the North. It has 45 points of abilities, perks, and skills with 35 points of disadvantages. I no longer have the BBB--mine fell apart years ago--to compare this package deal with the Policeman deal from Fourth Edition.
The abilities are 'Observant: +1 PER with Sight Group' and 'Foot Pursuit: Running +1" (7" total)' for 2 points each, perks that include National Police Powers, a Weapons Permit, and 4 points' worth of Contacts.
The skills listed are related to general police work and Area/City Knowledges based on jurisdiction.
The disads are the Distinctive Feature of the uniform/badge, watched by the department he/she works for, and "Social Limitation: Subject to Orders (Very Frequently, Major)".

Maccabe reacted to LA Singletary in LF Online Hero 5th Edition Champions Game
Hey,
Long time HERO GM and player. I always find myself running Super Hero games and rarely getting to play in them. Right now my bi-monthly gaming group is devoted to D&D 5th edition right now and we will soon take PF2 for a spin this August.
So I would love to join a game HERO Champions game. I have Hero Designer. I have 5th and 6th Edition books. I have the desire and motivation to play in a game.
A little about me:

Avid Reader of Comic Books, Fantasy and a smattering of Sci-Fi
I live on the East Coast in the US
Thank you,

Maccabe reacted to Lord Liaden in Hero Games former website freebies
Up until a few years ago, the Hero Games website hosted a wide variety of book excerpts, supplements, and game aids for free download. However, with the most recent website upgrade, most of those items were considered not resource cost-effective to maintain, and were discarded. As a result most new Hero gamers are unaware they ever existed; and even some of the veterans may have missed the treasures they contained, or have since lost something from the collection they once had.
However, thanks to the magnificent Internet Archive Wayback Machine, virtually all those items are still obtainable if one knows where to look and what to look for. But since many people don't know, I thought it would be helpful to provide links to representative archived pages.
These downloads cover many areas: maps (from published books or supplementary), book excerpts and introductions (including supplementary info about the published official settings), wallpapers, color covers to PDF books, character sheets and hex maps, items cut from books for space (including supplementary forms mentioned in various books), adventure modules, character outlines for illustrations (under "Character Sheets and Hex Maps" for some reason), illos for cardboard mini figures, apps and utilities, graphics and sounds, and more. Many of these were generously created by Hero fans.
Because the website has gone through several revisions over the years since DOJ bought the Champions IP, and each version has made changes to the downloads it hosted, I'm including links to Free Stuff pages from different years to cover as many of the varied offerings as possible.
https://web.archive.org/web/20061201152750/http://www.herogames.com:80/FreeStuff/freestuffherogames.htm
https://web.archive.org/web/20071013030046/http://herogames.com:80/freeStuff.htm
https://web.archive.org/web/20110516165152/http://www.herogames.com/freeStuff.htm
NOTE: Sometimes a file linked to on one of those pages would not actually have been saved on the particular day that page was crawled by Internet Archive. At the top of each page you'll see a graphic representing how many times the page was crawled on various dates. Clicking on that to get to another date will bring up another page, on which the item you want may have been saved.
I recommend exploring. There's much there to enjoy.

Maccabe reacted to specks in Record clairsentience?
I'm building the character right now and we haven't gotten into any legal issues yet. Right now I am building the character and the mechanics are confusing me.
Some of the suggestions above seem good but not exactly what I am looking for.
The PC, as mentioned, is a PI who can see events (past, present, and future) and wants to record them without the use of mechanical devices (ex. bugs) being planted in a room.
The PI can then record these audio and/or visual images to aid in his investigations.
Thanks for all the previous answers though.
