  1. I had a player who wanted to strike someone in the Juggular. I had no idea how to treat that damage wise so I used the Head Hit Location. What would you have done?
  2. We need to do a twin study on this weapon. Take a known gun from the book. Shoot the first twin and record the damage. Take the new gun and shoot the other twin. Compare the damage and convert.
  3. I tried the END Reserve with REC every hour and it didn't cure the problem. The problem was too many spells being used at once and overturning a battle to easily. I don't want to crank up the challange level to compensate. I am just hoping this new book offers suggestions for handling magic power levels based on campaign setting.
  4. In that case what I would do is build it STR Min 8, 1-1/2 Handed, Real Weapon. That way you can use it with one hand if you are STR 10. I would also go so far as to give it a limitation -2 OCV if STR is less than 12 when shot one handed.
  5. Re: Watched vs. Social Limitation Because you are subject to orders you must have the Social Limitation. I would also go on to state that if they do not trust you, you are Watched.
  6. One of my greatest dilemnas with magic in a heroic level campaign has been endurance. I'm hoping that Fantasy Hero offers some nice suggestions to give a good limit on players being able to use magic constantly. I just need a good suggestion that keeps it fair and balanced. So, hopefully it will address that.
  7. I know what you mean about the Thread Rating, but I'm much happier with Hero. I hated the CR system. They were never a challange like they said and it was impossible to find a way to improve them using that system. This way is simple and effective plus easy to make modifications.
  8. I love Bestiary. 600+ Monsters are fun. To respond to Rage, simple: You get no more NPCs. Next time it is You, or Jin, or Jartelis. In fact, my money is on you or Jartelis. Jin actually has an ability that will allow him, and only him to be safe. Of the Record here is the group report card for the last battle: Overall: C Teamwork: B Individual: D Chance of Surviving Chapter 1: Okay
  9. You can see how much I follow the gun world. The most I know about it comes from watching the History channel. I suppose there are .50 caliburs out there. This one is designed to be one handed. I'd imagine the wrist would hurt afterwards but it is definitely one handed.
  10. I read in the paper today that a new 5 shot revolver is on the market now for $980. It is different, because it is the first firearm to feature a .50 Calibur round. I'd quote the article if I hadn't misplaced it but it is said to have the stopping power to take down a charging bear. Any idea what the write up for that would be? My initial guess would be 2d6 RKA, Double Knockback, Charges 5, Real Weapon.
  11. Bestiary I actually have yet to have a chance to open it up. We spent our Tax Refund we won't get. We were there all day and there was only enough time for one. I plan on abusing the bestiary far worse than any other Hero product. My players are going to hate me. Muhahaha! I did flip through it though and it looks pretty cool.
  12. I bought both Star Hero and the Bestiary today. I'm really impressed with Star Hero and you can expect me to write something for Digital Hero at some point in time. I hope everyone had a good day today. I certainly did.
  13. I have completed the write-ups of three baddies from the anime Flame of Recca. They are available on a special subpage of my webpage.
  14. I keep thinking of things. Something else I would like to see is art by Keith Curtis.
  15. If anyone knows when that show will rebroadcast, please let me know. I really want to catch it on tape.
  16. This could very easily be placed in with Non-Gaming Discussion because of the intense level of psychology and neurology behind it but it still pertains to gaming. In a recent/ongoing situation involving my character Cas on The Savage Earth at www.herocentral.net I found my character facing what I believe was continious mind reading. This was, hands-down, the hardest role-playing moment for me. It was difficult because I had to strive to post all In Character thoughts the character was having while trying to figure out, Out of Character what I was doing and distinguishing the difference between the two. For example, Out of Character I know that I would like to engage into combat. But because I think this out of character, does that mean I would think of it in character? At the moment, the character was trying to not think about things so I decided, no. But it got worse. I will explain this dilemna by example. My character is a story teller. Now you all know the story of Repunzle. I mentioned the name of the story only here on this board. If someone was completely reading your mind what would they have gotten? Would they have thought of the name only or would they have thought of the entire story even if they had never heard of it? This is while you are aware of a situation and trying to not think of it. Now look at mind reading another way. A mind reader is delving into the mind of someone driving a car. The driver comes to a stop sign and stops. Do they get the notion of Red Shaped Object with word Stop means come to complete stop before proceeding? Or would they get the mental thought "stop sign" and nothing else? Or perhaps they would get nothing because they are behaving out of a conditioned reaction? On a side note, I wish to expend my thanks to Keith Curtis for running a magnificently devilish game/scene that has given me many hours of thought as I drive to and from work (not to mention two tylenols).
  17. This kind of blends in with Chapter 6 a bit, but it would be nice if you went into the classic archetypes for a fantasy genre. Because face it, you don't have speedsters and gadgeteers and you are going to be working to get people away from Version 3.5 (snicker) of D&D.
  18. Money I have had the hardest time figuring out how to handle money in a fantasy game. Anything you can do on how to regulate pricing for equipment and gear. Maybe a sample system or just some really good examples.
  19. I would say that it should be an all or none system. Either you go with the system that no one pays points or that everyone pays points. You don't have to have access to your veritech at every single moment. It just kind of guarentees that the player won't lose it (they eventually can repair it).
  20. Here we go... Mage Slaying BroadSword Cost Power END 1 Stored Mage Energy: Endurance Reserve (30 END, 0 REC) Reserve: (3 Active Points); OAF (-1) 17 Mage Slaying: Transfer 1d6 (max. Transfered Points: 16): STR, BODY, and END Reserve to Stored Mage Energy, Delayed Return Rate (5 Points per 5 Minutes; +1/2), Damage Shield (+1/2), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Continuous (+1) (70 Active Points); OAF (-1), Limited Power (Only Works on Mages; -1), Only Restores To Starting Values (-1/2), Limited Power (Damage Shield Only Covers Sword; -1/2) 10 Mage Sword Powers: Multipower, 20-point reserve, all slots: (20 Active Points); OAF (-1) 1u 1) Broad Sword: Killing Attack - Hand-To-Hand 1d6 +1 (plus STR) (vs. PD) (20 Active Points) (uses Personal END) 2 1u 2) Mage Slash: Energy Blast 2d6 (vs. ED), Line Of Sight (+1/2), Armor Piercing (+1/2) (20 Active Points); Beam (-1/4) (uses END Reserve) 2 1u 3) Locate Mage: Detect A Class Of Things 11- (Discriminatory, Increased Arc of Perception: 360-Degree, Range) (20 Active Points); Costs Endurance (Only Costs END to Activate; -1/4) (uses END Reserve) 2 Powers Cost: 31
  21. Of course! It is a damage shield that has the added limitation (Only for contact with weapon) Thanks.
  22. Of course the campaign it is in features three mage characters out of six total players.
  23. I plan on having the Detect have Costs END to Use. As for the power itself, it isn't just when you use the HKA. A mage can't even pick up the sword. The reason why it is called a Mage Slayer weapon because the version that is a spear, not a sword, killed a powerful fae mage by simply charging it through him in a battle. Unable to pull the spear out of his own shoulder, he was drained to death. Your suggestion to place them all in a Transfer to END Reserve is well noted and will be used.
  24. Unfortunitely, I sold all my Magic the Gathering cards a while back except for a couple of sentimental value. Actually, the gang isn't in an arctic region. The monster has, for whatever reason, migrated south for food. In what is highly amusing, the players missed a couple of subtle clues that there was a monster on the loose. One good one was when an NPC mentioned that currently there was no where in town to buy any ranged weapons or ammo. There are about six hunting parties that went out after the thing and didn't come back. The Chapter is about to come to an end with a scene that is practically taken from the movie "Hamburger Hill". I originally saw Irami being the only one capable of being ultra effective and now she's gone. I suspect that Chapter 3 will take the party north into Canada (also known as the Acda Region). I'll probably use that idea then.
  25. There is no way that weapon is "wrong". Magic is very rare. The END Reserve will have a 0 REC, thus getting energy only from encountered mages. The only good that weapon is against a non-mage is the standard long sword and the occasional EB from what little END it has stored up. The weapon is intended to be lethal to mages. It comes with a high cost too. The possesor of the weapon has an essentual hunted and/or reputation.
