  1. Re: Super Squirrel's Via Project

I've updated the information on the Knights of the Holy Order. It is still in Draft format and the document is still incomplete at this time.

I'm also trying to figure out how to get OpenOffice to put information into the Author field when I export the document to PDF. If anyone knows how, I'd appreciate the information.

    New Information (same link):

  2. Re: Building a Giant: the Checklist

Physical Limitation (2 to 25 pts depending on size)

    BODY (that matches growth bonus)

    STR (that matches growth bonus)

Knockback Resistance (that matches growth bonus)

    Reach (that matches growth bonus)

The actual checklists are easier to work with and have been referenced above. You also, depending on concept, might want to add a naked power advantage for Area Effect (One Hex) to all hand-to-hand attacks depending on character size and concept.

  3. As part of my Anniversary gift to Alice, I've been writing up various aspects of her Fantasy World, Via and putting them into PDF documents to look like official game material. This is an ongoing project that will take me to our 6th Wedding Anniversary (March 24, 2007) and beyond.

    Required Reading:

    The World of Via

    Via Campaign Logs

My current plans are to do PDFs for the following subject matters:

The Knights of the Holy Order

    The Church of the Messiah

    Dragons of Via

  4. Re: 3 flames, 3 systems

You forgot Hanabishi Recca from Flame of Recca. He is a tricky one to write up but I have written him up before. I also designed an Alchemy system for Full Metal Alchemist at one point in time but not Mustang in particular.

  5. I watched the movie Idocracy last night. It wasn't really that impressive of a movie. Basically an average American guy is put into cyrogenics for what should have been one year. Due to a set of events during his time in cyro, he wakes up in the year 2505. The human race now completely consists of morons. He is now the most intelligence person on the planet.

The movie was alright. It certainly wasn't an excellent movie. I didn't hate it though. But the concept was interesting.

I can see a short-term Post Apoc game using this concept. The player characters are average characters. They are somehow transported to the future were humanity has gotten really dumb. The campaign could focus on anything from saving life from some impending disaster or simply them taking control of the situation, trying to get themselves as the world's leaders and staying there.

I'm curious on your thoughts on this. :)

By the way, this is by no means a recommendation to see the movie.

  6. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE: NotW -- Updating Villains

I'm curious about the Warmachine and the Warlord. There's too much instability in the world (even, I imagine, in the CU) that the Warlord would pass up a chance to capitalize on it in one way or another.

Did Herculan ever face Ironclad in the showdown he wanted, and how did the victory or defeat affect him? Did it force him to grow (and I'm not just talking more points), or lower him to new depths?

I second the Warlord and crew.

  7. Re: The new face of Iron Man

About the picture and the Amazon listing:

NRAMA: Well then, you may need to address this for us. Over at Amazon, there's a listing for Iron Man: Steve Rogers>o?, a new collection of Iron Man coming in June. For spoiler's sake, we won't go into too much detail about the contents, but it appears that Tony Stark will be taking a role with S.H.I.E.L.D. ... first off - many people are suggesting this is misdirection or a teaser cover...is it real? Anything you can say about the description?

JQ: Sorry, Matt, I went to the link and there's nothing there. Can't help you with this one.

NRAMA: Okay, there was a listing – and it’s been seen all around, with a figure in a red, white and blue “Iron Man” suit. Publishing strategy-wise, how do things like this get out so early?

JQ: In all seriousness, this is the constant battle that we have to fight between promoting our books and keeping storylines as secretive as possible. Also, with so many different and growing avenues by which to solicit our product mistakes are bound to occur, especially as all these different avenues have different solicitation cycles.

It doesn't make me happy, but it's the cost of doing business on a larger scale.

  8. Re: Plucking Out Eyes

If we are talking Kill Bill Part 2 "plucking the eye out" than I say Transform. It is gone and short of a replacement, it isn't coming back.

If we are talking a "throwing star to the eye" and going to a vet so that hopefully he can heal you, I'd go with disabling rules.

  9. Re: Full Metal Alchemist

Do you know a way to import that as a unit into HD and scale it do that all the calculations are done based on the number of dice you want to use?

This would be a pretty darn handy function to add to the program, I think; the ability to import, use and scale whole power constructions. so useful that I'm thinking it must already exist. Any thoughts, Simon?

One thing I wonder about the FMA world is whether Alchemy is available to anyone who is willing to take the trouble to learn it, or whether one must have a special gift to use it. Given that there are quite a few important people in the series who are not alchemists (either machinists like Windy or ordinary people like that librarian), yet alchemy has a set of well-known and easily-transmitted principles, I am wondering why anyone would choose not to learn at least a little of it. Or, indeed, why anyone would go to the trouble of earning a living any other way when they could simply turn organic and inorganic material they happen to be around into anything they need at the time (grass into bread, piled stone into a house, water into wine, etc.).

Also; even if you can't make a human with alchemy, what about a non-human animal such as a cow? Even if you can't make a live cow, dead cows are very useful in some circumstances....

For Hero Designer, just do Major Transform with Improved Group Results and then a Custom Disadvantage "Alchemy Limitations" at a -4.
