  1. Re: Hero Points?

I have been using RDU Neil's luck chit system for more than a year, and it works great. Both me and my players like it. It is very flexible, it even worked for my (ill-fated) Star Wars campaign.

    John

That's good to hear, John. I was wondering if anyone had used that, and how it worked for them. Our group is planning on using the system for our game.

OK' date=' I know that people get kinda obsessed with their opinion of artist for comic books. I can deal with that. Just like I can deal with various artists styles.[/quote']

I like a number of different artists' styles. I can also decide what I think is good art, of a different style, and what is crap. Liefeld's art is crap, not stylistic.

Regardless if you love/hate a guys style, really doesn't give you the right to trash the guy. Honestly how many of you trashing Rob, can say you draw better?

I'm pretty sure that if I took my time, I could draw 10 times better; but that's beside the point. I'm not an actor, but I can tell when I'm seeing a lousy performance. Same with Liefeld's art. I'm not a professional artist, but I know it when I'm seeing lousy artwork.

Not ragging on anyone or trying to be a fanboy, but give the man credit where its due. He makes a living drawing comics, someone thinks he is good.

Yeah, but there are lot's of people getting paid for things they're lousy at. Look at "The Simple Life". Two people starring on a TV show when they have absolutely no talent, whatsoever.

Wednesday, at the comic shop I work at a young man (just turned 12 I believe) had started reading the teen titans about 5 issues ago, because he like the TV show, and likes the comic better (good taste there). It's his first comic book.

So I've got the comics spread out on the counter getting ready to file the special orders, and he comes in and exclaims "hey the Titans, it's been too long" picks up the issue, looks at the cover and says "Hey, when are they gonna get rid of this crappy artist, I haven't even read the last issue it was so bad". When I told him this was last issue he cheered.

This youngster will grow up to a man with good taste and discernment - his first comic, and he already thinks Liefeld is Crap.

I hope you made sure to have him tell all his friends. :D
  4. Re: Super Names

    I have five more names.

    Commander America

    Black Lynx

    Emerald Archer

    Human Wave

    Timberwolf

    Also, three new group names.

    Freedom Squadron

    Justice Force

ORBIT (Organization for Ransom, Bribery, and International Terrorism)

I double-checked and none of these are on the lists yet.

  5. Re: What's in a Name?

Caitlin O’Brien was a science student doing research in Ireland. She was out on the moors late one evening, taking photographs and other measurements of the lights caused by the swamp gases in the area. A storm had been gathering for the last hour, and the rumblings of thunder could be heard overhead. The sky suddenly lit up as the first flash of lightning cut across the night sky. Caitlin decided it was definitely time to gather things up, and call it a night. As she dismantled her equipment, a bolt of lightning struck the ground mere feet from her. Some of the energy ignited the swamp gas near her. Caitlin was caught in a flash of energy and was knocked into unconsciousness.

While she was unconscious, Caitlin dreamed. Dreams of lights and faeries and magic. She had no idea what they meant, but she was sure that they had a meaning. She was sure that her life had been changed forever.

By the time Caitlin regained consciousness the storm had passed. She was still surrounded by the glowing lights, but now they were coming from her, not the swamp. After a few more minutes, she found out that she could also become intangible, fly, and make images out of light. She decided to use these abilities to fight crime. The newspapers originally gave her the name Ignis Fatuus, until they realized that she was a girl. Now she is known as Will O’ The Wisp.

    Next name: VICEROY

  6. Re: Superhero Images

Well, since everyone else is posting pics I thought I'd put up one I just finished working on. I didn't draw this, but it's a cut, paste, recolor job. It's based on a pic of Opaque of The Circle, from the Algernon Files.

The character is Luna, an energy projector with "lunar"-based powers and abilities. She's from the group Justice Force, for our convention game we're working on.
