  1. Re: Your Gaming Group's Jargon

RLAMF - Run Like A Mother F**ker. The expanded form got genericized to [Verb] Like A Mother F**ker.

"Meat Products!" - Usually referred to gore and/or mooks. I think it came out of the old Smash TV game.

  2. Re: Evil Businessmen.

Michael Eisner... Disney could easily out fit a villainous organization's goons with funny uniforms :)

He's starting to lose his touch bigtime, though. Between the outright flop of The Alamo and the less-than-stellar performance of Home on the Range he's probably in a very tenuous position with the shareholders.

  3. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture

I think it'd be funny to see how Irving would end up being drawn but a) it's definitely an animal motif (he IS an animal, at least in shape) and B) I don't know if there would be a rights issue with the NY Public Library (their site is undergoing revision and is not up today).

Edit to add: it's back up. The lions are trademarked by the library, so it might just be a problem. :(

  4. Re: Silliest Disadvantage Ever

    Silly disad:

DF:Unearthly Beauty, concealable with effort, causes Lust

The character had a Comeliness of 12.

Actually, replace "Unearthly Beauty" with "Exudes pheremones" and it sounds, well, at least more plausible...

  5. Re: New Character

    1) The ID: It will get teased mercilessly if your gaming group is anything like mine, May I suggest Bob O'Neal (Based on Bob Kane and Denis O'Neil)

Actually, having this guy BE Adam West-- distinctive voice and all-- would be a scream...

  6. Re: What superhero world concept are you tired of seeing?

The sort of thing I meant is the multinational team where you've got a Jap' date=' an African, a Kyrgystani, a Frenchman, and swarms and swarms of Brits/Irish. I'm sick of it. That sort of thing was ground breaking in the 70s; a view of a different, better world when the Cold War was still on. It may have seemed like reality in the early 90s with the UN coalition of Gulf War 1. Nowadays it's a) hackneyed, and B) nothing like the real world.[/quote']

OTOH, in the wake of the European Union, I could see attempts to form such a superteam being done. Admittedly, such a team might be as fraught with bickering and internal indecision as the EU has been in its early formation...

  7. Re: "Primitive" Disads

Weaker Immune System (Vulnerability or Susceptability to disease)

Actually, if she's survived to adulthood her immune system is probably pretty robust, though as an alien she might be susceptible to unfamiliar Earth diseases (as the very technologically-advanced War of the Worlds Martians were).

She might, however, have scars or even an oddly-set limb from injury.

  8. Re: Dealing with Invisible Heroes

What is the special effect of his invisibility? If he shifts into another dimension, say, it's quite possible that something *else* in that dimension notices him. See HP Lovecraft's "From Beyond."

Also, if his invisibility is 0 END Persistent, let him get whacked with an Area Effect attack... and then not have his companions be able to find him. Bilbo was lucky in the War of Five Armies that he was knocked out and not bleeding to death...

  9. Re: Need Help with Some Villain "Lackeys"

OkayThe big villain is a control freak' date=' and religious convictions are strong. He simply used the symbol of the cross as the 'control' during brainwashing. Ever see "A Clockwork Orange"? The main character was brainwashed, and the control was classical musical (a specific composer, can't recall who).[/quote']

    The old Ludwig Van, droog.

Actually, in the book all classical music upsets him. Basically, the Ludovico treatment was an attempt to use negative reinforcement to condition Alex against violent acts-- the side effect was that anything that stimulated his emotions strongly (a hot girl, for instance, or his beloved classical music) made him ill.

  10. Re: Speed Brick

I wouldn't bother with Desolid... "Then' date=' he went right through the wall." "Did he vibrate his molecules?" "No, just plowed right through." :jawdrop:[/quote']

Yeah, that's definitely more of a Tunnelling thing. :)

  11. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #66

Irving would be completely oblivious (and immune to any biological-based effect if this is indeed pheremones), but unless he really suspects ulterior motives he tends to let beings who have (seemingly) reached the age of consent do what they wish.

  12. Re: OIHID & Focus : Mutually Exclusive?

I think I asked this once a while back, but I can't remember and besides, it's sort of germane to this thread:

Can OIHID be bought as a Focus, or would this more appropriately be a Transform bought as a focus? I was thinking of the bracelets G-Force wore in Gatchaman (or, if you're about my age, Battle of the Planets). The team costumes, weapons, etc. can generally be modeled as OIHID, but those bracelets themselves were potentially OIFs or maybe IIFs. I remember Keeyop-- er, Jinpei-- losing his and being unable to go into hero mode until he got it back. Admittedly, this was just one episode, but it could help bring balance to such a character for game purposes.

Mind you, the Gatch costumes might actually be better modeled as Transforms, as in later episodes Gallactor figures out a device to force them to change back...

  13. Re: Dark Champions: The Animated Series

Mobs are bigger bad guys then they are now with hits on each other.

The Villians do have Themes, but they are are also low-powered as well, most being simple thungs.

NO (stress NO) Mutants. If there are such things science hasn't identified them yet.

Heroes can be almost as much of a threat as the bad guys (remeber batman threatening to throw people off roofs and carrying a gun?)

Not only are the cars and tech retro but so are the fashions. Weomen wear fashionable gloves, men wear double-breasted suits.

On the same token as Mutants, Radation accidents aren't big until the late 50s/Early 60s (outside of Government testing of course). Chemicals are big though as well as Magic.

Just quoting you 'cause your text came up WHITE for some reason. Quite unreadable!

  14. Re: Critique power please

Okay, I was doing something I should not have...I was reading rpg.net...

Actually, rpg.net is okay-- for non-HERO discussions. Similarly, I don't expect to get deep Ravenloft discussions there when I have wizards.com's boards and suchlike.

  15. Re: Superhumans pulling an Authority

Heck in real life they suppress this stuff and research' date=' not the little improvements, the big ones.[/quote']

When one of the most powerful governments on the planet can't hide one measly blowjob I'm less than convinced that even multinational corporations could suppress major breakthroughs.
