  2. Re: The Hero Forum's Hottest Man in Comics. Nightcrawler all the way, baby. Especially with Alan Davis' help. (Linked because the image is pretty big.)
  3. Re: Maxim's Hottest Comic Females Alan Davis drew LOTS of hot girls (and not a few hot guys)...
  4. Re: A Thin Moral Line...? I still wonder sometimes if in the CU there isn't a secret undercurrent of people who want to *praise* Dr. Destroyer for doing something nobody else seemed to be able to do-- turn Detroit into a world-class city.

  6. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age Why not? These days, some of them write comics.
  7. Re: [Char] Monster Man [Long] Alas, only 2 of the 5 were ever done in Blaxploitation films (Blacula and Blackenstein).

  9. Re: WWYCD: Merchandising Hell The New York Public Libary's lions are trademarked by the Library and used as logos (and there's some concern over whether Irving's activities constitute trademark dilution, though he does not call himself by the library's name, Fortitude-- the courts are still hashing this out as trademark law did not previously cover living beings). Any Irving toys made are probably unlicensed approximations with names like 'Stone Lion Hero' or suchlike, and while not very well done, are probably not flat-out insulting (Irving's pretty hard to insult, anyway).
  10. Re: Creepiest/Sickest superhero concept ever? Don't Ghost Rider's powers come from Hell as well?
  11. Re: Creepiest/Sickest superhero concept ever? It's easier to come up with nasty super*villains*, of course, but: Penance (the ex-Speedball one) is pretty icky when it comes right down to it. Garth Ennis' Section 8 is a whole team of creepy loonball "heroes", with Phlegm-Gem and Bueno Excelente being the standouts (and Dogwelder not far behind).
  12. Re: Cap is dead!!!! EC was pretty much killed by having to adopt it. From http://www.goldenagebatman.com/ccatest.htm: General Standards Part B 1) No comics magazine shall use the word horror or terror in its title. 2) All scenes of horror, excessive bloodshed, gory or gruesome crimes, depravity, lust, sadism, and masochism shall not be permitted. 3) All lurid, unsavory, gruesome illustrations shall be eliminated. 4) Inclusion of stories dealing with evil shall be used or shall be published only where the intent is to illustrate a moral issue and in no case shall evil be presented alluringly nor as to injure the sensibilities of the reader. 5) Scenes dealing with, or instruments associated with walking dead, torture, vampires and vampirism, ghouls, cannibalism and werewolfism are prohibited. or, in otherwords, FOAD EC.
  13. Re: Cap is dead!!!! Indeed, we even have the breakdown of Young Super Soldier Cyborg Super Soldier Anti-hero willing to kill (I'm not sure if USAgent qualifies for this as well) Guy in homebuilt power suit...

  19. Re: The downsides of the Iron Age
  20. Re: The downsides of the Iron Age And if I remember right, in that same story arc Spidey later pounced on the guy who took his eye out and ATE HIS BRAINS. And no, this was not part of the Marvel Zombies thing.
  21. Re: The downsides of the Iron Age While it gives me the uncomfortable feeling of being pro-censorship, I wonder if the restraints placed on US TV animation (these shows are ostensibly aimed at kids, after all) keeps the writers from taking the easy 3DGY solution.
  22. Re: Top 10 List of the Lamest Superheroes of All Times Do we want to include characters deliberately made to be lame/inept for comic effect though? Or is that you think he doesn't even work as a comedy character?
