Re: The Hero Forum's Hottest Man in Comics.
Nightcrawler all the way, baby.
Especially with Alan Davis' help. (Linked because the image is pretty big.)

Re: Maxim's Hottest Comic Females
Alan Davis drew LOTS of hot girls (and not a few hot guys)...

Re: A Thin Moral Line...?
I still wonder sometimes if in the CU there isn't a secret undercurrent of people who want to *praise* Dr. Destroyer for doing something nobody else seemed to be able to do-- turn Detroit into a world-class city.

Re: Top 10 Accidental Comic Book Discoveries
IMO' date=' Maus I and II justify the existence of the graphic novel medium all by themselves. Nothing else comes close.[/quote']Not even A Contract With God?

Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age
But' date=' really, is it wise to have people who have [i']contempt[/i] for the genre writing a game that's even kinda superheroey? Why not? These days, some of them write comics.

Re: [Char] Monster Man [Long]
Alas, only 2 of the 5 were ever done in Blaxploitation films (Blacula and Blackenstein).

Re: When did [Title X] Jumping the Shark
British kids are simply smarter and better read than ours.Ask a Brit about "chavs" sometime.

Re: WWYCD: Merchandising Hell
The New York Public Libary's lions are trademarked by the Library and used as logos (and there's some concern over whether Irving's activities constitute trademark dilution, though he does not call himself by the library's name, Fortitude-- the courts are still hashing this out as trademark law did not previously cover living beings). Any Irving toys made are probably unlicensed approximations with names like 'Stone Lion Hero' or suchlike, and while not very well done, are probably not flat-out insulting (Irving's pretty hard to insult, anyway).

Re: Creepiest/Sickest superhero concept ever?
It's the fact that he's a superhero whose power comes from Hell.Don't Ghost Rider's powers come from Hell as well?
-
Re: Creepiest/Sickest superhero concept ever?
It's easier to come up with nasty super*villains*, of course, but:
Penance (the ex-Speedball one) is pretty icky when it comes right down to it.
Garth Ennis' Section 8 is a whole team of creepy loonball "heroes", with Phlegm-Gem and Bueno Excelente being the standouts (and Dogwelder not far behind).

Re: Cap is dead!!!!
Those that didn't adopt it (EC) didn't survive.EC was pretty much killed by having to adopt it. From http://www.goldenagebatman.com/ccatest.htm:
General Standards
Part B
1) No comics magazine shall use the word horror or terror in its title.
2) All scenes of horror, excessive bloodshed, gory or gruesome crimes, depravity, lust, sadism, and masochism shall not be permitted.
3) All lurid, unsavory, gruesome illustrations shall be eliminated.
4) Inclusion of stories dealing with evil shall be used or shall be published only where the intent is to illustrate a moral issue and in no case shall evil be presented alluringly nor as to injure the sensibilities of the reader.
5) Scenes dealing with, or instruments associated with walking dead, torture, vampires and vampirism, ghouls, cannibalism and werewolfism are prohibited.
or, in otherwords, FOAD EC.

I'm sorry' date=' and I'm not trying to insult any of you[/quote']You just keep telling yourself that, sweet thing.

Re: Cap is dead!!!!
My only fear is that they will pull a Death of Superman. Think of all the guys that could try to take up the mantle:
Patriot
US Agent (probably not since he's in Omega Flight right now)
The Winter Soldier/Bucky
Punisher (he has Cap's mask...)
Iron Man
Indeed, we even have the breakdown of
Young Super Soldier
Cyborg Super Soldier
Anti-hero willing to kill (I'm not sure if USAgent qualifies for this as well)
Guy in homebuilt power suit...

Re: Top 20 Comic Weapons
Not one female character on the list. Figured Elektra and her sais would at least be there, along with WW's glowing rope.Well, there's the Witchblade hostess, whoever she is.

Re: Rainbow Squad
Things have really changed since the mid-1970s' date=' haven't they?[/quote']Interestingly, according to Wikipedia, the rainbow flag's been around since the early 70s (it really does have the look of something from that era). I suspect the AIDS protests in the 80s were what really brought it to the attention of the general public.
There's also other rainbow flags, including a peace movement one (in fact, there's one of the peace flags hanging in an apartment across the street and down a ways from my own apartment). A team based on the peace movement, the Andean Indian rights movement, or the Druze might make an interesting switchup to throw at players...

Shows you where my head is-- I was expecting a GLBT activist superteam.

Re: Signature Request *CW #7 SPOILERS*
Me, if I bothered with sigs, I'd be tempted to go with MARK MILLAR LICKS GOATS.

Re: The downsides of the Iron Age
Right' date=' because it's well established that Peter Parker eats the brains of his defeated enemies, and that the anti-cannibalism stance of the establishment is just another way that the man keeps the people down. [/quote']Well, if the text in this scan is to be believed, it is because Peter was getting waaaaay too in touch with his inner spider. (That the writer forgot that spiders prefer to suck out the liquified insides of their prey may or may not be a good thing.)

Re: The downsides of the Iron Age
And if I remember right, in that same story arc Spidey later pounced on the guy who took his eye out and ATE HIS BRAINS.
And no, this was not part of the Marvel Zombies thing.
-
Re: The downsides of the Iron Age
While it gives me the uncomfortable feeling of being pro-censorship, I wonder if the restraints placed on US TV animation (these shows are ostensibly aimed at kids, after all) keeps the writers from taking the easy 3DGY solution.

Re: Top 10 List of the Lamest Superheroes of All Times
I would have to say Flatman is one of the worst.Do we want to include characters deliberately made to be lame/inept for comic effect though? Or is that you think he doesn't even work as a comedy character?
-
Re: Top 10 List of the Lamest Superheroes of All Times
Um' date=' I thought they were his conjoined siblings.[/quote']Maybe they are; I never heard of the guy outside of Wikipedia and I know it's not always reliable.
Wikipedia entry on Maggott, for what it's worth.
